Well done to Antony Partridge and friends for kicking off the campaign for a railway for Abertillery.
Young people like Antony and his friends are a credit to the town, supported by Business owners and older residents of the Town.

I have mentioned this before, but I think it's worth putting it into every thread on this subject.

The original plans were for two links - EV - Newport and Aber - Cardiff.
Access to Newport from up here required a huge investment in signalling changes at the Gaer Junction, which (at that time) made a line to Newport uneconomic.

So, what did the Council and its mates in the Welsh Assembly do?
Yes - changed the goalposts.

And since nothing's changed, apart from it's now the Welsh Government, does anyone believe that the thinking of these dinosaurs has changed?

They wanted EV - Cardiff, they only managed to achieve Victoria - Cardiff, due to gross ineptitude in the planning and construction of what should have been all the way into EV (as proposed now).

In effect EV is having Aber's spur.
And to think that the Leader of the Council represents (does he still live there?) the ward that could benefit greatly from the work and the business.

When it was repoted that the Ebbw Valley Rail Link from Ebbw Vale would have an extra carriage  for passengers Dave Rocke  was not at all impresed More money he said to be spent in Cardiff, no wonder we are in a mess
When I sugested that Rocke wasnt so very keen on having a have a Rail Station in Abertillery Ian Jones said at least Rocke is honest about it

And?

I repeat, in the forlorn hope that sooner or later I'll get through that Labour-brainwashed skull of yours (on the basis that the Good Lord did endow you with the contents that all human beings possess).

How many Return Tickets for the journey start in Cardiff?
Almost everyone who's happy about the service (apart from having to get to Victoria to use it) go from EV TO Cardiff ie. they are spending money in Cardiff, not EV.

Part of the reason is that EV has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to offer Cardiff people anything that they don't already have.

Abertillery, however, can offer them Heritage, areas of outstanding natural beaty/views, a world-renowned sight (Guardian) and history.

Put a spur up into Aber and people from Cardiff WILL come up here, WILL realise that we're not surrounded buy the aftermath of coalmining, WILL realise the part that people up here played in the Industrial Revolution, the Wars etc, and as a result OUR local economy will be reignited and thrive.

However, the dunderheads that allegedly run this council fail to see that.

In my opinion you missed your vocation in life, for you're thick enough to have been a councillor.

You'll all be smiling on the other sides of your faces when the labour party sorts out the mess the last lot left.Rocke was a disaster as a councillor. Thought he knew everything but he knee nothing. Just a big ego. Oh and goblins

The labour sort out the mess, now that's even more hilarious...hang on was that a pig that just flew past the window. If you're that confident in the Labour Party let's have some honest posts under some real names instead of just constant off post sniping. The proof of the pudding as they say is in the eating.Seems to me Politicians spend too much time ensuring they get the biggest slice of that pudding for themselves.

How many people does it take to change a light bulb....needs amending to how many Eddies does it take to write a post on here.
