RENOVATIONS to an Abertillery home which supports young people with a past history of drug or alcohol addiction can be completed thanks to a donation worth almost £3,000.
The Gwent Shrievalty Police Trust yesterday presented £2,807.80 to the Victory Outreach UK programme.
This money will be used to complete renovations to The Bush Hotel which provides 24 hour supported accommodation to people aged between 18 and 35 who are on a rehabilitation programme.
The residents will follow a structured work programme and will receive counselling and training in life skills. They will also be assisted by a Resettlement Officer who will help them secure their own tenancies.
The charity was set up in 1984 by David and Dinah Sansome MBE.
The Bush Hotel is one of four homes the charity uses across the UK for young people in need.
It provides them with a family based home away from their own to give them the chance to start again.
Many of the residents have been abused, had addictions and been homeless in the past.
The cheque will be presented by the High Sheriff of Gwent, Stephen Hughes to Reverend Richard Taylor, Director of Victory Outreach UK.
