Anyone received one of Labour's latest annual handouts put through their letterbox ?

I say annual because it was about this time last year that they were selectively putting A3 size toilet paper through some doors ( not enough manpower to get through all the houses and/or not enough money to print one for every house probably ).
Some might remember it was the one that effectively slandered elected Cwmtillery Ward Members by claiming that we couldn't be bothered to apply for funding for the Ward. It resulted in an article in The Gazette and Agent Smith blaming Cllr McCarthy for giving him incorrect information ( no apology for misleading the public mind you ). Cllr. McCarthy in turn stated he had the information from an official within the Council. What he didn't say was that he asked for it 3 days before a deadline. What he also didn't give was an apology for misleading the public.

This year's offering is one that preys on the street lighting issue.
And guess what - Labour doesn't tell you that one of the contacts they give works for the Borough of Blaenau Gwent.

AND THEY DON'T TELL YOU THAT THAT PERSON WORKS ON STREET LIGHTING.

Now I just wonder.........
Does this person mistakenly think that switching off lights will mean less maintenance and eventually less employees that perform street lighting maintenance ??????

I as a councillor am covered by a Code of Conduct that would require me to disclose an interest if I was in a similar situation and seek guidance/permission to participate.
Yet a political activist with an obvious potential conflict of interest decides not to.

Also interesting is that my - and others' - suggestion regarding the removal of,say, every other light bulb is apparently not feasible.
Wouldn't be because it would be a little too much work for a certain Labour activist would it ?

Let me absolutely assure Forum Members that your views and our experiences ( yes, I've experienced the switch-offs ) WILL carry more weight than unsupported rants from a ragtag bunch of imports, has beens and never-weres intent on mischief-making.
Because I'm convinced that those I work with in the Partnership that runs this council are far more intent on getting things right than worrying about Agent Smith, Cllr McCarthy, their legge to stand on and all the old cobblers they'll come out with.

It comes to something when the role of opposition ( ie providing the counterbalancing arguments and holding the decision makers to account ) to a ruling administration comes from within that administration itself.

MMMmmm - out on the streets today, and there was two Labourites out delivering their dross.

Clearly each week brings funds to print a bit more nonsense and the same diehards out in all weathers posting it.

What counts however is YOUR Councillor(s) and how they stand/vote in the debate that will soon unfold in Council.

Make your views known to the people you had the confidence in to vote for.
Then you will at least see if you were right. After all, it won't be the minority Labour Group that votes a change through.

You need 22 votes to change things.
Or an administration that looks hard at not only the decisions it makes but the consequences of those decisions.

Of course if you revoke or modify the street lighting scheme it will be entirely down to the efforts of labour members (lets forget that a review was promised at the start). Without their influence the current administration would have completely ignored any public opinion.

Meanwhile back on planet earth..........
