I've had an email from Ross Llewellyn attaching a photo which appears to have been taken in Abertillery/Six Bells. Can anyone shed any light on it? Ross's email is shown below.
"Hi My name is Ross Llewellyn My father and family are from Six Bells he came to Kent in 1930s to work at Chislet Colliery and to play rugby for the colliery
I worked at Chislet and Tillmanstone colliery and now a founder member of The Kent coalfield Heritage team.
The reason I am mailing you is I have come across a photo from one of my family of a large group photo marked Abertillary and I wondered if you would like it maybe some one can throw some light on it it must have been a national occasion as there is a union jack in the background"

My father worked in Kent at the same time, returned to Six Bells when it re-opened. Don't know which colliery but he was residing at a village called Nonington. _________________ I use to be a schizophrenic but we're OK now.

There was a gentleman named John Edward Jones from Abertillery killed in a car crash in Kent. He was the Abertillery agent for the Chislet colliery, his photograph and funeral report was in the South Wales Gazette dated 22 January 1937.
