AN ALLOTMENT is flying the flag after BBC Wales’s Roy Noble was on hand to give a green award.

The popular presenter visited Abertillery to present Bishop Street Allotments with the Green Pennant Award, after all their hard work on the gardens.

Roy Noble, awarding one of only 19 pennants in Wales, said: “I'd like to congratulate Bishops Street Allotments They’ve shown true community spirit to create this superb site.”

This is a great example of how small groups of people getting together make a difference, and what can be achieved.

I'm not green-fingered myself and in all honesty it's not my scene but congratulations to everyone involved.

It's fitting that people flying the flag for community spirit now get a pennant of their very own.
