MARKS & Spencer has announced plans to open a brand-new Outlet store at Festival Park – a decision that will create 35 jobs.

The new 10,000 sq ft store will create new jobs for the area and will bring the total number of Marks & Spencer Outlet stores to 48.

The Festival Park M&S Outlet store, which opens on October 1, will stock a wide range of quality Marks & Spencer products across womenswear, menswear, home, lingerie, footwear and beauty.

Nick Bullock, head of Outlet Stores, said: “We are delighted to be opening a new Outlet store in Ebbw Vale.

“The store is in a great location and will offer customers an extensive range of high-quality Marks & Spencer products at great prices.

“Most of which are at least 30% lower than the original high street prices.”

Ian Sanderson, director at Chester Properties said: “We are really pleased that Marks & Spencer is coming to Festival Park. Marks & Spencer is a strong brand to anchor the development and will bring a new dimension and excitement to shopping at Festival Park.

“With this being the only Marks & Spencer store within 40 miles north of Festival Park, we are pleased to provide our shoppers with a leading brand that they have waited some time for.

“The creation of 35 new jobs is also great news for the locality.”

The new Marks & Spencer Outlet store will be open to customers between 9.30am and 5.30pm on Monday to Saturday.

There will be late-night shopping until 7pm on Thursday.

It will also be open between 11am to 5pm on Sunday.

Blaenau Gwent council has welcomed the announcement that Marks & Spencer is to open the brand-new Outlet store at Festival Park.

Coun Des Hillman, leader of Blaenau Gwent council, said: “This is great news – Marks & Spencer is coming to our area and will be creating 35 new jobs at Festival Park.

“We work with a wide range of partners through our regeneration programme.

“I am confident this is going to be a big boost to the Festival Park branded shopping outlet and our local economy.

“We expect that Marks & Spencer – one of the UK’s top retailers – will attract more investment and many shoppers and visitors here.

“This is one of the most positive and encouraging announcements yet as we build the new Blaenau Gwent.

“It’s an exciting time for us all. We can now expect more partners are going to join us in our bold regeneration programme and our partnership projects which include the amazing transformation taking place at The Works: Ebbw Vale.”
