Royal Mail postal scam.
Can you circulate this around especially as Xmas is fast approaching - it
has been confirmed by Royal Mail.
The Trading Standards Office are making people aware of the following scam:
A card is posted through your door from a company called PDS (Parcel
Delivery Service) suggesting that they were unable to deliver a parcel and
that you need to contact them on 0906 6611911 (a premium rate number). DO
NOT call this number, as this is a mail scam originating from Belize. If you
call the number and you start to hear a recorded message you will already
have been billed £15 for the phone call.
If you do receive a card with these details, then please contact Royal Mail
Fraud on 02072396655 or ICSTIS (the premium rate service regulator) at

Someone I know has recently received 2 e-mails which indicated that they had inherited a large amount of money from a relative that had died in a plane crash in 2000.This turned out as far as can tell to be a money laundering scam ie you give your bank details and they transfer the money in and immediately transfer it out again. From what I've found out they obtained personal details from details given to job search sites.Fortunately no bank details were given in this case,so no damage done this time.
I do not find that surprising you have to be very cautious about what details you give out on any job search and in follwing job search links. I followed one such link believing it to be Jobcentre plus, UK government web site and found a job for homeworking on the internet, thinking it to be a genuine government address I followed the contact information. I recived a phone call the caller told me the job entailed being online and answering e mails, clients would contact me no cold selling on my part was required, there were to options available firstly as a full active team member which would require an initial outlay of £80 to pay for an overnight stay in a Cardiff Hotel where I would meet other active team members, the second was a one off fee of £100 to work as an agent online but earnings on both would be around £1000. He then said he would send an e mail with further information and link to be activated once you have agreed to a contract with the company, and provided bank details ect.
A second call came but at no time would he give any information about the company, or product they were selling, initially he had said it was health related. I became highly suspicious because it did not make any sense most employers would be more than enthusiastic about their company and product to entice you into joining or investing either your time or money in their company, needless to say I let the wonderful Job oppotunity pass you have to watch out for your spelling on a google search especially jobcentre not jobcenter and Santa Claus cannot say where I ended up on that one
