Playing catch up before its too late!
I guess Ive reached that age when I can remember more about the 60's than I can about last week!! Last year I had an angina attack and it suddenly dawned on me that I didnt know much about my family back ground. As a result I joines Genes Reunited and started a tree. I have managed to get back to the late 1700's with some of the branches but others have drawn a blank.
I also started thinking about school and wondered where everyone is now. My best friend up till secondary school was a lad called David Griffin who lived at Marlborough Road but he went off to the Grammar and I went to Bryngwyn so we drifted apart. Some names from Bryngwyn I remember were Peter Frampton and Ian Watkins from the Arail, Martyn Edwards from Duke Street, Stephen Powell who lived over New Street or the Graig. I had a crush on Margaret Turner at school but she was out of my league.
After my dad moved us into the Rolling Mill I stopped enjoying school. By the 3rd year I had been back streamed and I was regularly in fights. I think this was an effect of living in the pub. Too much smoke, too many late nights and my mum obviously hated every minute of it.
While living in the Mill I can only remember one mate, a lad called Derek Rose who lived on Kings Street just up from the Mitre.
Hello Haydn,
Sorry to hear of your illness ,David griffin married and lived in Cardiff , poor old Derek passed away a few months back and Stephen Powell died quite a few years ago. _________________ If you can't think of any good to say,try not to say anything bad.
