The Abertillery-Royat twinning association will be holding a public meeting at the Met 7:00pm 27th August.
I only know because we had a flyer put through our door. I am hoping to be there. Royat, it appears is in the Auvergne, although I hadn't heard of it before. I'm not sure if this is an inaugural meeting - does anyone else know? _________________ The compliments pass when the quality meet.

Royat is the centre of France in the Auvergne region. It is a Spa town surrounded by a (sleeping) volcanic range, with a population of circa 5,000 (although this goes up two fold in the summer months with the ammount of tourists the town) It is a suburb of Clermont Ferrand.
We are holding an initial public meeting at The Met on Thursday 27th August at 7pm, for all those who are interested in finding out more about this twinning project. Many people in Abertillery may have attended one of 2 concerts we held at The Met last October/November where the Ochestra of Harmonie de Royat (Wind Band) performed with the Orpheus Choir, Ffin Dance, Liz Tiley, Harriet Whitehead and Markham Brass Band.
Please come along and find out more. We believe this can only raise the profile of Abertillery by having a twin town, and proudly show what "A Welcome in the Hillside" really means!
I was always under the impression that twinned towns had something in common with each other _________________ 'Ain't No Dark 'Till Something Shines, I'm Bound to Leave This Dark Behind..
I think it's hills not mountains that we are the proud owners of in the Valleys _________________ 'Ain't No Dark 'Till Something Shines, I'm Bound to Leave This Dark Behind..
I think there is a technical definition of a mountain isn't there? There was a film starring Hugh Grant based on, I think, Y Garth north of Cardiff, where the locals built a pile of stones at the summit to get it redesignated as a mountain. I think it is based on a true story. Don't know if our local hills qualify though. _________________ The compliments pass when the quality meet.

The public meeting is to inform the people of Abertillery and District how they can become involved with a hugely exciting project.
The people of Royat have already visited Abertillery town on a number of occasions: we have a lot in common with them. They love good food, good music, and meeting other like-minded people. Rather a lot in common with me, an Abertillery resident!
