Unless surveying the Arctic Circle for my second igloo when I get Abertillery twinned with Tromso, Alta or Nordkapp can be counted.
If you EVER get half a chance it's worth the tenner for a Burger King meal ( in the most northerly BK in the world ), £7 a pint ( no Ottley's but Mack's is pretty good ), and even the £27 pizza.
Anyway, back in harness.
I missed a special Council held on Monday which was to debate the Accounts for 2008/9 and also the publishing of Members' 'Expenses' ( might as well call it that, since that's what everyone seems to call it ).
On that subject I forgot to mention in last week's Week that as I arrived at the Civic for my HR CRB briefing last Friday guess who was getting into the Civic car, presumably to be chauffeured home ?
Yes, Cllr. Hedley McCarthy.
Old habits die hard it seems.
I also missed yesterday's 'Greater Abertillery' Regen Executive.
No doubt everyone's happy to have got away lightly.
There was a lot I wanted to bring up and it won't wait until the next one.
Unfortunately Aberfest hasn't seen a lot of me, and I'm working on Sat as well.
Abertillery Blues won't just have camping as a new innovation this year but Carys has been out and about trying to get some economic boost for the town from it. Traders are being asked if they wish to subscribe to giving discounts to Blues goers. That should stimulate use of the town for a few days over that weekend.
Arriva have been approached regarding helping to provide a shuttle bus between llan station and the Town/Park.
I'm looking into getting a shuttle minibus from the Park to Town on Sat. and Sunday morning and afternoon.
I might even try to get one running around the Pubs that are putting on events.
