ROSEHEYWORTH Millennium school was selling the hottest tickets in town as fans queued up to watch Green Day perform alongside Miley Cyrus, Avril Lavigne and even ABBA.
The event was actually a Stars in their Eyes show organised by Communities First and school nursery nurse Gwen Livingstone.
More than 120 people turned up to watch the event that was judged by school head teacher Maggie Edmunds, Pastor Bob Buchanan and Alison Jones from Gwent music.
The eight acts who battled it out used backing tracks and arranged everything from the outfits to the choreography.
The successful artists were Lucy Evans, Chloe Edmunds and Bethan Jilson who performed as ABBA, Robyn Baskerville aka Avril Lavigne and Epiphany Adamou who took on the role of Miley Cyrus. They will go on to compete against winners from three other schools at the final that takes place at the Abertillery Met on July 2.
“It was a very successful night,” said Gwen Livingstone.
“It was very well attended and the children really enjoyed themselves, they got a real buzz out of performing.
“I would like to congratulate all the pupils and wish the winners all the best for the final. We want to bring the trophy back to the school.”
