More than likely they felt they would need extra policing after the paricularily bad incident at the Bridgend field on the Friday night of the Aberfest.

The music festival was closed down even before it had really begun around 8 after alcohol related fighting had broken out. This festival has run succesfully for over three to four years, not sure if this was the first year that alcohol was allowed or sold on the field. It is rumoured that it may well be the last time that this festival will be allowed in future, which is a shame as there has never been any trouble before and this time only by a small minority.

My daughter went to Aberfest and was sitting chatting to the boy who got assaulted. If it was alcohol-related it was alcohol consumed away from the festival because a gang of boys jumped over the fence and laid into the first boy they saw so I don't think they had even been at the festival.

My daughter phoned us crying hyseterically as it really had been a nasty attack. It would be nice to think that the gang will be banged up for it - the police saw the latter stages and made a few arrest - but I suspect not.
