The electoral registers at the reference library jump from 1915 to 1922, same for the second world war.

Sent a email to Newport earlier,   had this email back today,

Thanks for your enquiry. The only way we would be able to trace military service numbers would be by searching absent voters lists, assuming that the person in question was registered to vote . However, we only have the absent votes list for Newport. For Abertillery it may be worth contacting Gwent Archives enquiries@gwentarchives.gov.uk.

Sent a email to   enquiries@gwentarchives.gov.uk    but failed to send,

is there a different Email address I could use   Thanks  Dave
Rocke

Hi Dave.

I've sent one to that address and it hasn't bounced back.

Why do you say it "failed to send" ?
Did you have some sort of error message?
Rocke

Dave - I've got an autoreply from Gwent Archives (that email address), so it is a valid one.

Absent Voters List 1918

Dave, they must be talking about that specific year down the reference, I've seen absent voters in some of the Monmouthshire West books, using the addresses you gave would probably come under Blaenau Gwent, or even Cwmtillery.
Be down there one day this week, I'll take a look but looks iffy.
Dave

Thanks both will try it a again
