accident on Arrael Mountain 1923-1930

has anyone any information re this accident when a Mr.Iles supposedly died after falling on the Mountain,  He lived in the Powell Street area of Abertillery.

hi maryann.
Sorry no firsthand knowledge of the incident you mentioned but each time Iread it something niggled
At last today I realised what it was, My Aunt Doris married a Frederick Iles in about 1939 and his family came from Bltyhe street
unfortunately she died of TB in 1942 . i know the family was still
living there then-- at least the father. Can never remember any comments on an accident but I was only 4 years old at the time
Does anyone know of  any  Iles family living in Abertillery now?
Just realised my  Husband`s gr grandmother was an Iles but they were
from Abersychan/Trevethin Small World

Accident on Mountain

I too would like some info regarding a young person who fell down a mountain in Abertillery.  He was the father of my mother-in-law Edith May Williams 1909.  She told me that her father died after falling down a mountain at night when she was a small child.  Her mother remarried a few years later to a Mr Thomas whom, I was informed, was a blacksmith.

If anyone has any info on this Williams death (circa 1911) or the marriage of (Possibly Maud) Williams to Mr Thomas, please let me know.

Also during the war years my mother in laws work included her going to switch the radios over, whatever that meant.  Does anyone know. Confused

On a lighter side, there must have been many accidents on the Arael Mountain though generally they will have involved the creation of life rather than the tragic outcome of the one in question here!  Twisted Evil  Rolling Eyes  Laughing  Laughing
