Agent Smith learns lessons

I'll never understand politics.

It's common practice to haggle with your opponents in order to get some sort of agreement on how to proceed with particular things.
It even goes as far as, say, the Government giving HM Opposition a pre-Budget Day copy of the Budget, so they are well prepared.
It oils the wheels for debate etc. and saves wasting time, I gather.

This goes on a bit in our Council I think, since there's been a few mentions in Council of letters going back and forth and of the respective Leaders having chats.

I can see the reasoning behind it and while it's a bit alien to my view of things I accept it without being aggrieved.

Anyway, I've discovered a practice that does raise my eyebrows.

Agent Smith, having parachuted into enemy territory ( Mr. Dobbs' E-word, not mine ) obviously needs to do a reccie of the area.
Some of you might recall that he issued a propaganda sheet that made a false statement about Cllr Delwyn Davies and a highly subjective comment about me.
Guided by one Cllr. Hedley McCarthy apparently ( as Agent Smith was quoted in The Gazette ).
Well, Agent Smith's learnt his lesson and has now it seems taken to carrying out his own surveys of the lay of the land.

I was astounded to discover that Agent Smith has solicited information from the Council regarding a few things that are going on at the moment.
Yes, he's been requesting briefings on what's happening on the Western ( well, west of England anyway ) front.

Can you believe this ? !!

Yes, read my lips.
Labour's special agent, tasked with recapturing Blaenau Gwent from the enemy ( sorry Mr. Dobbs but you will put words into people's mouths ), has to get info. from the very organisation he's been critical of in the local media.
At best he's checking the veracity of info. passed to him by HM, local resistance leader. At worst he doesn't even trust him now, after just a short time.

I think a potential back-scratching arrangment ( 'I get you in Westminster, you get me down the Bay' ) might not be viable now.

I also suspect that the master plan might have to be tweaked a tad.

Well Agent Smith, you should know the adage about keeping your powder dry.

Especially when I'm one who's going to rain on your parade.
