AM TRISH Law has several times raised the very serious concerns regarding ambulance response times, both within the Assembly and with the chief executive of the Welsh Ambulance Service.
In October 2007 she wrote to Edwina Hart, Assembly Minister for Health and Social Services, expressing grave concern at a proposal to withdraw one of two ambulances from Aberbeeg in the constituency.
That letter followed a series of complaints from local people about unacceptably long delays in ambulances arriving at accident scenes.
Mrs Law also met with Welsh Ambulance Service chief executive Alan Murray, who assured her that “actions had been taken to mitigate against a similar situation arising in the future”.
Official figures show that Blaenau Gwent has the worst response times apart from Monmouthshire in respect of Category A (immediately life-threatening) emergency calls in south-east Wales.
