And they're.........OFF!

The Witching Hour has past.

12 Noon today was the latest time for nominations.

Now the silly season starts in earnest.

The first snowdrop of the year, the first daffodil of Spring, the first lamb....

.... the first politician knocking on doors.

Latest update - Looks like Community Council Elections to be held in both Cwmtillery and Abertillery Wards.

( And watch this space for a possible revelation about safe havens and political storms ).

And they are indeed off.

Seems that the Deputy Mayor of Abertillery & Llan CC has decided to do a runner from his base in Cwmtillery to the safe haven (no election) of Llan.

Good !
I'd have felt a bit uneasy savaging him on the hustings.

I'll give you a list of all 'outside ward' councillors as and when I get the full lists.

Now they're off!

Dear Rocky,
No, Julian didn't do any running. He just took sensible advice. He is a good Christian man, training for the priesthood, and will be an asset to Llanhilleth, and a good Town Mayor.  Is it possible that you missed a trick by not standing there!
I wish a couple of Llanhilleth Conservatives had had the guts to put up - they'd now be in!
Hope you and Christine both win for the Borough in Cwmtillery.
Sincerely,
Anthony

I'm glad to be mad then.

MY people are in Cwmtillery.
THEY believed in me, and if I stood in another Ward simply to help them then I'd be carpping on the citizens of Llan.
It's complete anathema to me, and in fact we'll see if it was good advice.

I won't be voting for him as Mayor if I get elected.
Chris should have done the 'sensible' thing as well but I won't have to worry about her being nominated as Leader.

btw I didn't miss a trick.
2 of 'the lads' refused to go against our principles and stand elsewhere, and we couldn't risk carving ourselves up.

However, I'll be recruiting in Llan, Aberbeeg and Six Bells.
Cllr Roberts won't slither in unopposed next time.
If I can get 4 kindred spirits then by the end of the Summer Abertillery & Llanhilleth Community Council will be where it should be, in the hands of its communities and their people.
