Another Week That Was Rolls By - PSForgot two other bits, sorry !
Weds evening Delwyn & I attended Penybont neighbourhood association's monthly meeting to update them on the switch-off schedule. We're looking to see if we can find a practical solution to the Penybonrt 'rat-run' issue.
( Hopefully we'll be up to see Bourneville in the next week or 2 ).
And I can't believe I forgot this really good example of ordinary folk, Councillors and council workers.
I got a call from someone on Sunday regarding a very dangerous hazard he'd encountered by Abertillery Comp.
The Council's put a chicane in as part of traffic calming/the 'safer route to schools' initiative. However, the position of one part is such that children coming down the bank from Alma St alight straight in front - yes, literally, it's only a yard if that - of cars that are directed onto the wrong side of the road.
He'd seen it first hand.
On Monday I see one of our managers and he's got someone onto it straight away.
A temporary fence was erected ( since pushed down a bit ) and on Thursday I was called by one of the highways people to explain what had been done, what he thought was required and how did I feel about it.
There should be a permanent solution in place as a matter of priority.
So, thanks to Bob, Clive and Ian for their actions in substantially reducing the risk of injury and also for protecting motorists from the horrendous effects of hitting someone.
