Beer and Cider Festival

I read somewhere on here about a beer and cider festival in Abertillery. Is this still on and happening this year? I can't believe there is a festival so close to us and we don't know about it. We are cider makers based in Hafodyrynys, Crumlin and if there is a festival in Abertillery then we should be supplying it. We supply all over Wales and the UK and anyone is very welcome to visit us here at Blaengawney Farm to try our cider. It is all made by hand and is 100% juice. Andy was champion cider maker of Wales in 2011 and champion perry maker in 2012. The Welsh Championships for 2013 will be held at the Welsh Perry and Cider Society's annual festival on 25th May at Caldicot Castle and we hope he wins some more awards. If anyone knows who organises the festival in Abertillery then please let us know.
Thanks.
Very Happy

I'm assuming that this is a Wetherspoon's thing.

If so, stake it out.

There used to be a beer and cider festival organised as part of Aberfest. It wasn't connected to Spoons - I went to one in the Stute. I don't know if it is running this year though I'm afraid.

Ah yes Martyn.

I think it was the Lions, Rotary, Round Table or similar organisation.

I was thinking about Wetherspoons' 'Beer Festival Week' or whatever it is they have every now and then, sorry.

Someone told us he thought it was called the 6 Bells Cider Festival but I can't find anything referring to that on the web.

Well there's not been a festival involving beer or cider here in Six Bells as far as i'm aware. Its probably the one Martyn referred too.

It might be worth sending the message board user leighandrews a PM or email - I think he was involved in the one I attended.

Out of interest, do you sell direct to the public? We have a local brewery now in Llan and it would be great to have a local cider supply too.  Very Happy

Thanks for the advice. Yes we do supply direct to the public and to lots of pubs and shops in Wales and around the UK. You would be very welcome to visit the farm. Our address is Blaengawney Farm, Hafodyrynys NP11 5AY. Andy's mobile is 07802 219384. Give him a call just to make sure he is here when you fancy calling up and trying some cider.
All the best.

The micro brewery from Llanhilleth are in Spoons regularly giving samples, perhaps do likewise.

Well we finally made it up to the farm and had a good look around and a lesson in cider-making courtesy of Andy. Boughtfar more than we intended to but it all tasted so blinking good Smile

OP - Wetherspoons have a Cider Festival coming up ( might start this week?).

I suggest you contact the manager, if your products aren't already included.

Did you make it down the same day though Martyn ?  Very Happy

lol I was driving Dai so I had to restrict myself during the tasting. Had a few last night though and they tasted just as good. If you like dry cider, Heartbreaker is the one to go for.
