Blaenau Gwent to get wheelie binshttp://www.southwalesargus.co.uk/...laenau_Gwent_to_get_wheelie_bins/
Given that a significant number of properties in Blaenau Gwent are not suited to wheelie bins (steps, no frontages etc), how is this scheme going to work for all (if it is intended to) and how is going to get buy-in from residents? And we`ve all seen stories of the `wheelie bin police` in places like Newport; will we soon be hearing similar tales in BG?

I guess the disabled and elderly residents with steps will have to rely on their families or the kind generosity of their neighbours. How soon before they get half inched by someone is anybodys guess, hopefully they will be replaced free of charge. Just wondering how cost effective it will be. Still have not got our Tidy Trev bags and new instructions yet nor has he collected last weeks waste plastics ect today, still in the blue bin.

wheelie binsHi Carolyn, the council will have to make arrangments for the bin men to get the bins out and put them back for the elderly and disabled and elderly, they do it here in Nuneaton and Bedworth, and some of the properties have as many as 15 or 20 steps but the bin men do it.
We are lucky we dont suffer from bin policemen , but very occasionally bin men refuse to take bins that are to heavy,I mean bins that have been filled with stones, bricks etc etc,But they dont refuse to take bins that are out of alingment or if the lid is sticking up half an inch.in fact our bin men are very good.

Wheelie bins in Blaenau Gwent are all very well, but some of the streets & back alleys in places like Llanhilleth are so narrow, where are we going to have room to put them out?

Do we have to accept the bins If the bin is not used will your waste not be collected

It would be pretty daft not to accept the bins, it would be far better than a bag to be ripped open by animals if kept in your yard or on your front if we change to two week collections. Folks had bins years ago to collect hot ashes besides waste it aint nothing new. Guess they had to struggle up and down steps back then and the back lanes were no wider. If there's a prblem at all it will be with the bin men, will they be prepared to take on extra duties and at what cost, will there be issues over new health and saftey regulations that did not exist years ago

Hi Harry
Blimey there are some delicate egos out there. All Bryn said is it would be daft. Believe me, he has said much worse to me Maybe he didn't know the answer - does that mean he can't respond?
Hope to hear from you again Harry

Hello Dirty Harry, I see your a sailor. My advice is to sail your ship away from this Forum. They will sink every opinion you have. Don't fall overboard and get fed to these sharks. You'll be more Dirty than Harry if you go upsetting this lot!!

Good grief Violet Elizabeth is back.
You know what they say "If you can't stand the heat then get out of the kitchen". This is a discussion/debating forum not all are going to share the same opinions, that is the whole point, an exchange of ideas. If you want to play games and chat then join Facebook or Twitter. Oh! I forgot you already have, although you don't appear to have many friends, not suprising if you don't exist Mr. Monk.
I don't think I was overtly aggressive Dirty Harry, although some take umbrage to my avatar which they consider to be the middle finger of fate. For goodness sake it is only an avatar.
Don't leave the forum on my account I can quite easily avoid your postings My users are blessed the sainted Dirty Harry the vigilante has come to clean the place up
