Change of Name

I'm going to change my name to Ian something-or-other.

I'd like everyone else on this forum ( apart from the kosher 'Ians' of course) to do likewise.

It'll be a delight to completely bamboozle the Eddie Legge cabal   Very Happy

Yours faithfully,

Well I never

Ex Councillor Rocke still sulking over losing his Cwmtillery council seat
has said he wants to change his name on Forum
He said it'll be a delight to bamboozle the Eddie Legge cabal
Some people never learn in his endevour to extract the urine he has again underestimated the ingenuity of a man who has been through the Universtity of life
It can surely be said that Hillmans cabal didn't get on together very well, perhaps they were too busy disagreeing  amongst  themselfs,
Independants galore excuses ever more, A house divided against it self cannot stand Abraham Lincoln
One thing for sure if labour did have a cabal in Blaenau Gwent they didnt try to bamboozle the public They took advantage of the communites growing unpopularity with Independats and most especially the real ones that Hillman tried to impose on us and the breakaway group of the go it alone no party given candidates
Before I go let me  say good on you Hedlely McCarthy

What Rocke means by your "cabal" is the people who write your forum posts and your letters to the Gazette for you. It is quite obvious that you have no input into many of the articles/letters that appear under your name. When challenged on this point you get irate and start spouting nonsense. What you rarely do is properly answer any of the points put to you.

Your blind loyalty to the Labour machine is touching; your willingness to be used by people who actually don`t give a fig for your opinion or support is rather sad.

Pity you flunked then, but that's Labour's education for you.....   Very Happy

What really is a cabal

A cabal could also be a group of people conspiring in plotting an illegal or evil activity
I have been wrongly accused most especially by ex councillor Rocke of allowing others to post material in my name to Gwent Gazette and Abertillery on line Forum; nothing could be further from the truth
Neither do I intentionally dodge answering questions put to me unlike our ex councillor who dose his talking on Forum and local rag he has used the gift of the gab on many occasions to bamboozle the public
Hard to believe but true did our novice councillor not know that Blaenau Gwent’s governing body of Independents adopted from labour what they strongly opposed when in opposition
Civic car and the building of two state of the art residential homes for the elderly and disabled one in Ebbw Vale and one in Nantyglo
Did he ever ask in council chamber why civic car and not travelling expenses
Did we really want to know how many times the labour leader had the use of civic car?
It was important for Rocke to challenge MP Nick Smith when he was in Tesco Abertillery
When I posted on Forum that Nick Smith had agreed that the Electrification of Ebbw Valley line to Cardiff would be a good thing, he was accused on Forum of not caring about Abertillery
I await your reply David Rocke

Neither do I intentionally dodge answering questions put to me unlike our ex councillor who dose his talking on Forum and local rag he has used the gift of the gab on many occasions to bamboozle the public

Remember then in a few years time that you lot inherited ( that's the correct expression, not 'adopted' ) a super-school, theatre complex, leisure centre, upgraded Aber Comp, 2x 3G games pitches, around 50 more people in work every day, improved cleanliness around the borough ( or will you claim the credit for LAST YEAR's figures ? ), recycling levels far nearer to the onerous WG levels, below which Council Tax payers will be even harder pressed with fines.

Oh - and we inherited some expensive ones as well - Anvil Court, the former Aber Leisure Centre, Nantyglo Comp. A great tribute to financial stewardship they were.

And let me, at this early stage, give a prophecy regarding financial stewardship.
A 3%+  Council Tax rise next year, or a significant dip into Reserves to keep the cost down, unless of course Labour's mates down in Cardiff decide to give this Borough more money as a reward for going back to the future.

Did he ever ask in council chamber why civic car and not travelling expenses  Got told I was out of order the time I tried.
Did we really want to know how many times the labour leader had the use of civic car? Of course you didn't
It was important for Rocke to challenge MP Nick Smith when he was in Tesco Abertillery Why? and embarrass two decent gents who were standing as candidates in Aber?
Unfortunately I gather they weren't there.

When I posted on Forum that Nick Smith had agreed that the Electrification of Ebbw Valley line to Cardiff would be a good thing, he was accused on Forum of not caring about Abertillery. I think the word you're looking for is 'outed', not 'accused'.

You lot are unbelievable.
Instead of leaving things alone and having a honeymoon period you've given me the opportunity to make sure you start off mired in doubt and uncertainty.

And it will get worse as the predictions come true.

Oh - and it's 'we' 'Eddie Legge' not 'I' - a cabal consists of more than one person.
Labour's failed education catching up with you again ?

Who dident vote for Rocke and why

Our most eloquent writer Rocke believes that because his grammar is that much better than mine he takes great pleasure in letting others know
For an intelligent person to use sarcastic insulting comments dose him no good but harm
And by the way it wasn’t Eddie Legge who failed to get elected words but not deeds spelt disaster for Rocke
Why a change of name why dose he want to hide and if so from whom
At the very least he should have a good nights sleep no more late hours writing Rockes reports
The secret of being a bore is to keep telling everyone
Ian

You can tell by the way these replies are being written that it's not the original(whoever that may be) Eddie Legge writing them. How about they stop gloating/posting rubbish on here and get on with delivering.Although I doubt whether it will amount to much over the next 4 years.  Rolling Eyes

I'm Ian by the way just in case you mistake me for someone else Eddlie or is it spelt Hedley Wink

Eddie, do you honestly believe that we can`t tell the difference between your error-strewn ramblings and "Eddie`s" gramatically correct (but total rubbish just the same) letter in this week`s Gazette?  Rolling Eyes
Ian

All you have to do is to look at the way you? have written your response and how that differs from teh others on this thread.....QED in my opininion. The proof is in the eating as they say,so get on with it instead of spouting empty rhetoric on here.I'm ashamed to say it was a Welsh Labour leader that took them into middle ground politics, which ultimately led to New Labour and policies that have little difference in real terms to the present government.Rather than that doing your best for your country I would say that was doing your worst......................... There’s been a change in Blaenau Gwent, will it be for the best.
They’ve voted independent’s out, but they do deserve a rest.
Now Labour is in we can but wait, to see what mess is made.
If you ask a question to their ilk, the answer they evade.

Back to square one now the vote is done, is this a big mistake.
Who knows what will happen next, what promise will they break.
Putting the People before party, is the stance we want to see,
Not old School ties and pat’s on the back, how it once used to be.

This is of course a democracy, you are entitled to your views.
You can put your X where ever you like, as it’s up to you to choose.
But in four years time if it doesn’t work out, you’ve only yourselves to blame.
So get your arse down to the polling booth, if you don’t want more of the same.
Jim Nicholas

When I lived in Aber, quite a few years ago. the council had just one independent member - the editor of the Gazette, then based in Aber. My sister-in law echoed the views of almost the whole electorate when she said "we are working class  and MUST vote for labour". So sad in a democracy, especially when the local labour party controlled the council with a rod of iron and the ordinary elector was treated with total contempt. I was delighted to find that the Independents  had unseated many labour councillors and that the electorate was being kept informed of council activities by Rocke. May sense soon return.

You wrote that post, no denying.

 Very Happy

Who knows

The time has come reason said
To speak of many things
Chase the troubles all away
Let us see what happiness brings

The Chartist marched and suffered
The Blaina means test riots were of another day
The pit wheels  turn no more
Since Thatcher had her way

Nothing there to smile about
Let us speak of love and pride
When labour lost in Blaenau Gwent
The party never died

Let there be a new tomorrow
Let the bells of happiness ring
Let us drive away despair and gloom
Let us share the voice of spring

We will have to drive as I can't see a rail link happening for Abertillery.
And on that subject Mr Legge, could you ask your mate Cllr McCarthy does he intend to make good on his statement at the time of the opening of the Ebbw Vale to Cardiff line.

Quote from Hedley McCarthy taken from www.railwatch.org

Quote “A rail link from Abertillery to
Newport will be the next thing we
will be pressing for.”

Blaina means test riots

Would it not be a wonderful thing

I love truth and I pardon an error Eddie. That's why I can forgive you for using the Blaina Riots in your ode to Labour when in fact it was the Labour Public Assistance Committee the largely Communist rioters were protesting about in 1935.
Rocke

'Oh what tangled webs we weave...' and all that.

'Eddie Legge', I suggest that 'the committee' decide to suspend operations.

All this could come back and bit 'Aberystwyth Al' in a few years' time.

"not Eddie but Labour Legge,

Don't you think it slightly sad that you are used as a WILLING verbal punch bag by the very people you hold in such high esteem!!!!!

Shame on you Headless McCarthy maybe now you're in big school you can fight your own battles, i doubt it though.

and before you start spewing your normal pro labour mumbo jumbo...........

I support no party, I'm one of the ones who spoil my polling card until there is something worth voting for.
