COLMAN FAMILY Cromwell St Abertillery

Hi looking for help
Does anyone remember a Mother and son John(johnny) Colman
who lived  in Cromwell St.Abertillery They shared a house with my Grandmother Elizabeth Adams until her death in about 1948
. Johnny was slightly disabled I know he had a club foot and would have been about 15yrs old. They just seemed to vanish  and no one
seems to know where they went or what happened to them.
any snippets of information welcome

John Coleman

Hi Dragongirl, I dont recall the name but I certainly remember him when we were living in Ashfield road. I have a vague recollection of him working in the bakery in Cromwell street but could be wrong, I know he was still about up untill the sixties. He was quite tall and slim and I always thought it was polio he suffered from, but that was possibly because he had a built up shoe the same as my brother who had polio.

Hi Pentboy
thanks for your import on John Collins. When you`re  small every person a few years old than you seems ancient !!!
I don`t remember if Mrs Collins and John were in appartments with
my Nan but  I know my Mum lived with them before she went  into Service in Bristol. She  and my Dad  married in 1936 and they had Lodgings off  Glynmawr street They then moved to  Sixbells before I was born in 1939 and my Nan died  in Cromwell Street about 1948 Johnny and his Mum were at the funeral but can`t remember them afterwards at all,Strange tricks memories play. I`ll look between these time lines, maybe I can find them
I can recall Johnny and my Dad`s father comparing shoes because they both had club feet,!!!!!
 Thanks Dragongirl

Colman Family, Cromwell Street, Abertillery.

There's a Cyril J Coleman and Edith M Coleman residing at 26 Cromwell Street, throughout the 40's but no Elizabeth Adams.
I'll look at the 20's and 30's when time permits.
Lots of Adams in 20's Abertillery and many shopkeepers.
