Concert to honour late Peter Law

Quote:
A concert in memory of the late MP and Welsh Assembly Member Peter Law is to be held in aid of a hospice that cared for him after he had a brain tumour.
Choirs will perform in a concert that is billed as remembering "Peter Law the man, not the politician."

Members of the public are invited to attend, along with politicians, at the event for the Hospice of the Valleys in Ebbw Vale Leisure Centre on Saturday.

To avoid any confusion it should be pointed out that the concert was held yesterday (Saturday 8th December)

Thanks for clearing that up, there was no mention of a date in an earlier article on the charity concert in the GG and nothing appeared online in this weeks GG either so I assumed the BBC article dated 8th was for next week as it did not state "today"

Memorial show raises cash
PEOPLE’S politician Peter Law was remembered and thousands of pounds was raised for the Hospice of the Valleys at a special memorial concert last weekend.

Blaenau Gwent’s leading male voice choirs were joined by guest artists for this one-off concert, organised by the Rotary Club of Ebbw Vale.

Mrs Law’s widow Trish, now the borough’s Assembly Member herself, enjoyed the concert, which remembered the work her husband did for the people of Blaenau Gwent, but said she did shed some tears on an emotional night.

“I thought I did well until the second half, but when they sang Calon Lan I lost it and there were a few tears,” she said.

“It was an absolutely fantastic night, and I’m sure Peter was enjoying it too.

“I’m delighted so much was raised for the hospice, we can never stop paying tribute to the work they do, they give 110 per cent in everything they do.”
