Council mergers

The latest on council mergers Western Mail Tues 18th Hopes for a rapid move towards slashing the number of Welsh councils appear to have evaporated after First Minister conceded there was a “very small” chance a Bill would make it through the Assembly before next election
Three quarters questioned said they believed services would either get worse – despite a narrow margin in favour of their council merging with a neighbour while 71% believed their council tax would either go up or stay the same

It's a win-win situation. If we get a merger then we can say goodbye to the current shower. If we don't then we get to vote them out of office.

And who was it that said "The status quo is not an option" ?

Looks like another ill-planned venture.

Lump a few die-hard labour areas into councils who are more evenly balanced politically and of course you're guaranteed to stay in power in those councils.
A bit like devolution really - chop the country up into smaller bits which are themselves impregnable Labour fortresses and then whatever party is in power - sorry, make that whenever the Devils in Blue have been elected - the UK government can still be messed about with.

Typical lack of foresight again by a labourite administration.
CJ didn't think of course that in those die-hard labour areas (such as BG) his party's own sheep would lose their pasture and grazing rights.

I suspect that the Cllr McCarthys of this world have been bashing ears somewhere, and their plaintive belating is being harkened to.

Whoever said that would be a problem?

The problem with Labour in my view is Blaenau Gwent Labour,  the inept and unable real-ale socialist who leads it and the sheep who put up with him leading it.

As has already been said or implied, a good thing for citizens of Greater Caerphilly is that we won't be lead - represented perhaps - by amateurs.

Oh - and if the people of soon-to-be Greater Caerphilly want proper representation I suspect they'll be looking to people who are not aligned to a party that lost our valleys, and cost jobs and services into the bargain.

Now - would you care to write a letter to the local press along the lines of your fatuous (and politically inept) comment?

I'm sure citizens would appreciate my demonstration of how to put a poor bolitician down.

Mmmmm wonder who that would be

Mmm...

Looks like I've even over-estimated you.

Over 12 hours to come up with a post like that.

Ah well, I might be here for a few hours yet, so you can beat your record response time Sue.
