Abertillery boom town!Hi Michelle,
The period when your ancestor moved to Abertillery was at the height of the coal mining boom. Several new mines had opened and if your ancestor was a brickie he would have found plenty of work. We tend to associate mines with coal workers but there were also every other trade imaginable building and maintaining the over ground works.
