Fanner/Williams Family in Glamorganshire/Blaina

Hi I am from Australia and have been looking into my family history. this has led me to Blaina, if my information is correct my Great Great Grandfather was William Fanner who I think was the Publican of the Lamb Inn (would believe late 1800's early 1900's) his wife was Maggie. Their Daughter, Mary Fanner is my Great Grandmother, she was married to Herbert Williams in 1916. They then has my Nana Lily Williams in 1917. I am trying to find any information on these families or any pictures ( My Dad doesn't have any photos of May or Herbert). I was told that Dragongirl might be able to help me PLEASE.. if you can or if anyone can please email me at queenmissymoo@hotmail.com . I would appreciate anything that anyone has to offer. Thank you in advance.

The Fanner boys may not be related, but not a problem always delete the post later.

Billy is in the centre and Cliff is on the right.

Billy was the lightweight champion of Wales and Cliff was mainly responsible for the management and training of his brothers.

BOXING.
There was a good crowd at the Palladium Abertillery, on Saturday to witness
a 15 round contest between Billy FANNER, Brynmawr, and young Ivor DAY, of
Porth.
Fanner was heavier than his opponent and secured a points victory.

Hi Aber42.. Thank you for that information. I did have that much and knew that Mary worked for someone called Lewis, I did think that it was a house though so to know it was an Inn is great thanks. I have asked someone about her not being on the 1901 census (can't find her on any) and they have said that it could be beacuse she was not at home when the man come to do it and this was something that was common at times. But you have added some information there that I didn't know.
Stoob thank you for the photo.. even if they aren't related it is still so interesting I was reading a little on them last night..

Re: Fanner/Williams Family in Glamorganshire/Blaina

Hi, on Ancestry you'll find your family in the 1901 census indexed as HANNER, Mary is indexed as Mary Chartom Hanner. Her father is Joseph Evans Hanner, the brother of William who you mentioned. So William is Mary's uncle, rather than father. Their parents were Joseph and Charlotte. The family is at Lamb Inn in 1881 indexed on Ancestry as FARMER. Hope this helps
