|YOU can step back in time at a special heritage day at St Illtydís Church in Brynithel this month.
On Saturday, September 27, the church will be opening its doors from 11am to 3.30pm.
Digital Gwent Gazette archives will be available for people to look up events that made the news in years gone by and visitors can take part in a variety of free events and enjoy the spectacular views of Blaenau Gwent from the churchyard.
Blaenau Gwent Councilís heritage officer Frank Olding will lead a number of short heritage walks, taking in the local archaeology and folklore of one of the oldest buildings in the area.
David Llewellyn , Communities First officer for Cwmtillery, will talk about the Abertillery Heritage Trails Project, which looks at historical events and buildings in the area.
The Victorian Surgeon will also be paying a visit, demonstrating the gore of past medical practices. This is not for the faint hearted.
