Help the Local Labour Party

It's been quoted all over the place that locally Labour has not only failed to recover from blindly following the party line as laid down by HQ ( whether local, regional, national or even, from some of the more bizarre utterings, Galaxy HQ on the planet Zog ), but actually carried on declining.

I think we should provide some food for thought.

Consider this ( Group Leader McCarthy obviously didn't ):

"Our policy is fair - leader. Blaenau Gwent Council’s Labour party leader Hedley McCarthy said: "By taking a County Borough wide view no community is advantaged or disadvantaged.

"We have a clear, fair, socialist policy which treats Abertillery, Brynmawr, Ebbw Vale and Tredegar equally, I am therefore mystified how two Labour Councillors should find this a matter of concern."

Well, I'm mystified why he has chosen in one fell swoop to alienate the voters of Nantyglo, Blaina, Cwmtillery, Six Bells, Brynithel, Llanhilleth, Swffryd, and Cwm.
How ill-considered is that ?

Not only has he set himself up for that one but if that policy treats every town fairly, why isn't the Labour Group proposing to close every school, rather than just Brynmawr, alongside Nantyglo ?
Doesn't have anything to do with the electoral representation map being much more red in the Ebbw Fawr and Sirhowy valleys does it ?

Next, how about this one:

"John hasn’t been his usual happy-go-lucky self since losing the leadership. As for Lynn, I’m not sorry to see him go – he can have a free transfer."

No remorse at losing 2 of his most experienced colleagues.

Cllrs. Elias and Hopkins were the first 2 Labour councillors I had to work with and there's never - absolutely never - been any politics in our relationship. In my experience and view they are people councillors, not party sheep. That's what the wards and their people need.

Anyone else like to share with us ( and them ) why they're out of favour not only with the public but with their own members ?
