Hope Springs Eternal - Iceland in TalksGot informed today that Iceland has verbally confirmed that it is negotiating with the owners of the former Woolworth store with a view to acquiring the property.
The Council is looking at issues surrounding the service area ( between the car park and the 'high side', obviously with a view to making the building more 'delivery friendly'.
As I get more info I'll pass it on.
Please be aware though that these are the very first steps in a commercial transaction and completely outside Council control. Hopefully we'll be able to fully support Iceland in its endeavours if and when it acquires the property.
Without wishing to be patronising, when you pass on this prospective good news ( in fact it's pretty good just for the fact that chains look to Aber for prospective investment ) please ensure that it doesn't become 'Iceland is coming to Aber'.
There's a long way to go but we can at least hold out hope.
