How to kill a troll - Statement by Rocke

Statement from Dave Rocke:

The following is a posting from ‘Eddie Legge’ on this Forum. It has been directly ‘copy and pasted’:

Eddie legge wrote:
David Rocke the sook Wants members of this Forum to believe Eddie dosnt care about the unemployed,He tells us that he has been  out of work for two years, and that his his wife and family are not suffering because of it, no food banks and handouts for those
The unemployed that I know were laid off not because of any investigation involving them and their employer All are now struggling to make ends meet, and if they had the qualifications that our ex councillor has they would be out there looking for work It will take some explaining why should David Rocke an  IT specialist be out of work for two years Why may I ask would an employer want to be rid of the best IT man on their books must be a reason, in life there is a logical explanation to everything
Whats the betting Rocke will find a favorable one

I am taking action against what I believe to be libellous comments within that post but in the meantime I wish to make the following comments in order to reduce the potential damage that has been caused to me, my reputation and my business, and the upset caused to my family.

The libellous comments cannot be undone, for they are there to see, be copied and kept (as indeed I have done). I can however seek to ensure that they are not repeated and that I can negate them sooner rather than later.

Eddie Legge states that I have “been out of work for two years, and that (my) wife and family are not suffering because of it". I have never stated that I have been unemployed for two years and hence obviously neither have I stated that my wife and family are suffering hardship as a result.

Eddie Legge then goes on to say “The unemployed that I know were laid off not because of any investigation involving them and their employer”, and also “Why may I ask would an employer want to be rid of the best IT man on their books”. These comments clearly refer to me given the context of his previous one in the paragraph above. In early 2012 two reports appeared in a local newspaper, one stating that I had been suspended from my place of work by my then-employer Torfaen County Borough Council, and a subsequent one which clarified incorrect information given in the initial report (one such clarification being that the issue was with employees of a third party, not Torfaen) and also stated that I would be fighting the matter with the full backing of my union.

No further reports regarding my employment status have appeared anywhere in the media, so Eddie Legge therefore cannot possibly substantiate the implied claim that my employment with Torfaen CBC was terminated as the result of an internal investigation. Torfaen Council has certainly not made any such statement.

Employment matters are personal and confidential but in order to absolutely clarify the situation I would like to point out that in this current economic climate organisations – notably public bodies such as councils – seek to relieve budgetary pressures by offering what is known as ‘voluntary redundancy’ and other related schemes.

On 28th Feb. 2013 I retired from Torfaen CBC and the pension I had accrued through working for that council was activated wef. 1st March 2013.

In preparation for this I registered as Self-employed with HMRC since I planned on semi-retirement and later that year my business, Rocke Solid Business Support, was registered with HMRC. It is a successful venture with quite a number of clients in the Blaenau Gwent area, and indeed as far afield as Australia, and it fits in extremely well with my preferred lifestyle.
This completely repudiates the insinuations contained in the comment “It will take some explaining why should David Rocke an  IT specialist be out of work for two years”

There should be no doubt that Eddie Legge’s claims that I was “laid off” and “because of any investigation involving (me and Torfaen)” are a complete fabrication, utterly baseless and a grave slur on my reputation and similarly the allegation of being “an  IT specialist … out of work for two years”   is not only untrue but is damaging to my business and livelihood, it giving the impression that I am no longer in business.

I have already commenced conclusive action to seek damages and reparation for what clearly appears to be libellous comments and their consequences, and I fully intend to issue progress statements on this forum as and when I am able to.

Please note that this statement is issued solely by me and the necessary references to Torfaen County Borough Council are purely incidental to this matter. All comments and observations are my own personal ones.

Mr Legge, I wouldn't be looking forward too much to the postman's visit in the coming days if I were you.
