Jones Family six bells

hello, I am trying to compile my family tree, which is turning out quiet confusing. My grandmother was called Valda Jones, she had brothers and sisters. They lived in alexendra road six bells area. From what i can gather their mother was called Martha and their Dad was called David, who was a coal hewer. This is where the trail goes cold, Hopefully someone may be able to fill in the blanks for me.

Many thanks

hi thanks of the info, i do not have much information beyond my great grandparents all i know is that they were david James Jones and Martha Jane Jones (Nee Davies) My Grandmother was called valid and her birth certificate says that she was born at 21 Alexandra road, which in the kelly directory of 1920 shows that this address was the India and china tea company. My Grandmother had two sisters eileen Jones( connie) Eunice, and one brother stewart(Roy). I believe that their mother died in 1926, and was taken in my a friend, being Clara Saunders, who later married a Robert Roberts,

I'll probably be down the reference library next week before they shorten the opening hours and will hopefully have time to look at the electoral registers for the mid 20's.
Regards Kelly's there's 1926, 1934 and 1937 editions for South Wales and Monmouthshire.

thank you you've been a great help. I believe that they moved out of the area after the death of Martha Jones, as what i thought were my grandmothers half brother and sister were born in the doncaster area of yorkshire

OK, I've seen a family called Hickey living at that address but it could have been any year between the 20's and 40's.

According to the Spring 1925 Electoral Register there were three people living at 21 Alexandra Road, Six Bells, - David Jones, Jane Jones and Charles Gage.
jones76

thank you for that info, david jones was my great grandfather, who is rather illusive. Least i can pin him down to that address in 1925, the three children would not be on that register would they? I guess the electoral resigners do not give ages. From my grandmothers birth certificate it says that david jones was a coal hewer in 1925, could that possibly mean that he worked in the one at six bells?

Maybe but The Vivian was just as close.

Let you know if anything crops up, I'm going to look at those books again anyway as I'm looking for a cinema on Alexandra Road in the 1920's or 30's.

Regarding the school photograph, the log books and admission registers for both Six Bells Infants and Junior Schools are at the Gwent Archives in Ebbw Vale.
The Junior School date 1900 - 1960
