|AN INTERNATIONAL star will be helping a group celebrate the anniversary of a major event in British political history.
Peter Karrie will be performing as part of the Nantyglo and Blaina Charter Groupís celebrations of the 169th anniversary of the Chartist March on Newport.
The theatre star, who is best known for his appearances in The Phantom Of The Opera and Les Miserables, will be performing at 7pm on Tuesday, November 4 at Salem Chapel in Blaina, supported by Ebbw Vale Male Choir, as part of a week of events to mark the anniversary. Admission is £4.50.
Also that week at the same venue will be a Songs of Praise service with the Local Council of Churches at 7pm on Monday, November 3.
And, on Thursday, November 6, pupils from Ystruth School, Blaina, will present Trial And Transportation at 3pm. Admission is free.
People are being asked to wear period dress and eat a traditional Chartist meal for the final event of the week when Val Williams, storyteller and actress, presents The Chartist Wife at Nantyglo Rugby Club.
The event starts at 7.30pm and tickets cost £5.
