He had the support of the Cardiff “big boys” – he must have known it was in the bag to mouth off the way he did.
I’m just wondering what glittering prize they offered him to stand?
If the going rate for (unsuccessfully) standing as MP for Blaenau Gwent is elevation to the Lords, what is the assembly election worth

I know that at least one of the local candidates stood down before the selection meeting. Whether that was recognition of imminent defeat, pressure from the Wales executive or support for Mr Davies I'm not sure.

Come on Martyn you know me better than that if Cardiff applied pressure on me they'd get the reaction they got in 1997, you obviously remember that. The truth is I don't rate the Assembly that much and not that its anybody's business but I didn't vote for Alun Davies
