Maybe as motorists we should know which lane or it should be signed better I think it should be the right lane I think people who arent in a hurry tend to stay left Some people blast through on the right if you do this you need to be able to get over before the right hand turn onto the old Llanhilleth road

If it's not a dedicated lane then you can use either one, I think.
The worst transgression is being in the left-hand one, zooming off and effectively undertaking the car on your outside.
No, there's one worse than that. Being in the outside lane and poodling off, leaving 3 cars on your inside, one of which you'll almost certainly have to upset by carving them up when the lane runs out.
Should be 'left only' in my view.
On this subject I came down there last week and a large van ( white of course ) was doing a u-turn, facing North to facing South and heading off towards Pontypool.

I think your wrong on that one rocke we drive on the left and if you look the lane narrows from the right in effect the one on the right must make sure it is safe to take on that manoeuvre

It is signed as either,what I find it worse is going the other way,there are always several drivers in the outside lane that think the have enough room to get around you before the lane runs out and then the one in front pulls off at a snails pace.They are then all trying to get back in between those being sensible.

Logic should dictate that as there are just 2 directions at the junction immediately beyond these lights, left towards Crumlin and straight ahead following A467, then the left hand lane should be used for turning left only.
But there again it’s not marked on the road and drivers seldom use logic, neither do they use there mirrors or indicators.
Just who was the idiot who designed the system at Crumlin, some desk jockey I’ll bet!

I should have said 'in my view it should be made left only', which is what I meant.
I'd also ban anything under 2.0 litre from the right hand lane and any driver incapable of reaction times of under 0.1 seconds when the lights change.
Give them a test blink - fail to respond and you'll be yellow-carded and your light will change later than the orther guy's.
I also think it should be made mandatory to move over after 2 seconds.
If you can't get your machine past the one one your left in that time you shouldn't be out living in the fast lane.
In fact perhaps some one could develop an intelligent traffic light system which would look at the way drivers approached the lights and determine which of the front cars in each lane was the most likely to be a dawdler. The lights on that lane would be delayed 30 seconds, allowing all the real drivers in the other lane to go on their way unhindered by people for whom Sunday is always today.
The rest of us would then arrive at our destination in a far more relaxed mood.
That's it, I've got a welcome sign for our town.

I'm not a cllr when I'm outside the boundaries ( ! ).
And with the reaction time I'd allow - and given the minimum of a 2.0 l engine - one would be doing 30 mph in the 2 seconds allowed before moving over.

I believe its if you're going straight on, it's always the left. With two lanes, one is normally dedicated to any right turn. If you're going straight on, and there is a slow moving vehicle in the left, and the right is free, then I think you're allowed to use the right, or else it wouldn't be there (apart from emergencies).
