May 4th bring it on

Western Mail Monday 16 April 2012-04-17
When choosing the most important place in Wales Steven Thompson author of Welsh History Month says look no further than Tredegar
I wonder how many citizens of Blaenau Gwent will know that Tredegar was the birthplace of labour MP Nye Bevan one of the founders of the Welfare State
We might well ask since the days of Bevan, Foote and Lew Smith has fate been kind or cruel to the people of Blaenau Gwent
Being one of labours safe seats and when the sitting MP Lew Smith decided to retire early labours commitment to having more women in Parliament gave rise to an all women short list
It was then that Peter Law AM had his falling out with labour the consequence being he left the party he had been with for thirty odd years to become the Independent MP for Blaenau Gwent
Labour has since taken back Westminster and Cardiff bay from Independents
Come May 3 local council elections Blaenau Gwent labour will be fighting two groups of Independents Hillmans Real ones and those with no party given
We need to know who the hell is who and what do they stand for Hillman still smarting over his loss of power and the ones he accused of skulduggery fighting against him
We need councillors in positions of influence Independents means isolation now more than ever donít let them isolate you

May 4th - Bring it on!

I'm afraid, Eddie, that you have got the date wrong!  It is Thursday, May 3rd - not Friday 4th! Wouldn't like people to stay at home by mistake!
You mention three MPs, all Ebbw Vale based. Michael Foot was a good friend even though we did not share the same political philosophy. I did my best to help him here in Hampstead, towards the end of his life when he was frail.
By the way, you missed off your list Abertillery's greatest MP, Mr. George Daggar, whose grave I visited at Brynithel when last in Aber.  Apart from everything he did for the constituency, he was always regarded, on ALL sides, as the best dressed MP in the entire House of Commons!  If anyone from Abertillery didn't know that, well, you do now! I wonder what he'd make of events in his old Seat these days?  (Rocky, I am sure will tell us!)

Eddie, either stop posting fragments of newspaper articles or learn how to post a link to the full item. Itís not difficult.

You post a newspaper name and date (which is wrong by the way, you also got the date of the election wrong) and one sentence of the article and then go off on your usual hail labour logical mystery tour without so much as a blank line between the two. This gives the impression that the whole pile of nonsense is part of the article. You are not stupid enough to keep doing this by accident Eddie, however old you are.

The format you are using also leaves you open to the possibility of legal action from the publication concerned.

Wrong date

Sorry about wrong date of local council elections
And as for George Dagger Anthony I am sorry to have
forgoten about him most espessily after still remembering
the following from my early school days

Am I Stupid

Dai what do you think of the following
Honestly believing parking outside Argos Ebbw Vale
was free for Blue Badge Holders a sign above where I parked
said Blue Badge holders only, a stupid mistake on my behalf
After paying a £60 pound fine I made sure I paid parking fees  when ever my wife and I used Exel parking again
However on one occasion I had for reasons unknown only had the last three No of my car on the ticket
Another £90 pound fine £60 if paid early
I have not paid second fine as yet and unless Exel Parking excuse me
My wife and I will not be shoping in that area again
Two expensive trips to Ebbw Vale

The first one sounds like it was your fault Eddie, even if it was an understandable mistake. However, from how you've explained the second incident, it doesn't sound your fault.

I am not offering you legal advice but... if it were me I would ignore the second fine notification if it was issued by a private company as I don't believe they have the legal authority to enforce it. If I felt I was at fault I would pay but as I said, it doesn't sound to me as if it was your fault.

It might be worth contacting the Citizen's Advice Bureau for clarification?

Exel Parking Ebbw Vale

Thank you Martyn for welcome advice
I paid Exel £60 pounds to keep my wife from worry
However when the second demand came we had an awful
row blaming me for not paying again
It was most fortunate that I found the paid for  ticket in car
30/3/2012 even though it only had last 3 registration numbers on it is proof that I paid that day
I have posted letter and ticket to Exel I shall let you know what ever happens
Thanks again Martyn

You're welcome Eddie but if they come back to you demanding you pay, don't without checking it out with CAB.

Their website dates the article to 09-04-12. This may refer to the date it was published online, but it would be unusual for them to publish online before it went to print. The link is below.

Iíve checked the article again (online) and it says 09-04-12. Not sure why this would be different.
