Miners lists.

Is there any way of finding a miner from old colliery records? I lose my Great Uncle, William Hewitt Reed after he came out of the Army in 1919. I know his medals were returned to the Army in 1923, but I don't know by whom. before he joined the Army in 1915, he was working in the Vivian pit. I just wondered if he went back there, or moved on else where. Really having trouble finding this man!

When I wanted my fathers records from the early 30's of him working in the Kent coalfield when Six Bells was mothballed I wrote to Iron Mountain and they sent them back. Have to say just looked at their site and I don't recognize it to the one years ago, the office I wrote to was the then head office in the Midlands.

Ok, thanks stoob. I think this man is going to beat me, but I will keep trying to find him.

He changed his name when he entered the army, maybe did so again when he came out.

Yes, I'm working on the hope he did. Only William Hewitt Reed I have found is in London in the 1930s. Hewitt seems an unusual name so it may be him. I do have a photo of a older man that has a lot of similarities to Williams Army photo, and to my granddad, but unfortunately no proof its him.

OK, let you know if I come across anything, but I'm browsing the middle of WW2 at the moment.
