Off Topic Topic

Given some of the postings and some of the comments on postings ( and I suppose with references to Ian (B) and the late lamented Monk ) how about an off topic topic ?

Generally most threads start very pertinent ( obviously, since Post 1 sets the topic ) and eventually die away. Although often they die a natural death ( contributions slowing down, then dying out, views less and less and finally no-one's looked at them for months ) sometimes they die by posts that are off topic, possibly ( probably ? ) because people have nothing more to post on the subject.

However, sometimes that digression rekindles interest.

'Left Lane or Right Lane' is a good example.
A good point made and a subject that has affected quite a few of us.
However, there's not a lot that can be said without something being repeated eg. you either think 'left', 'right' or better markings would help.
So, after 3 people have posted one of these others won't be able to move the debate forward, so ma lot of readers perhaps won't post.

However, the addition of boyracing at least made it last a little longer and a few more views than might have been.

I think going off topic is a useful stimulus, provided it's done at the right time ie after the debate seems to have died down and most certainly not before.

Now, who wants to add a footie post to this ?
Carolyn

We have had a number of OFF TOPICS in the past and members complain about them.  If you read the FAQ' it you look at the FAQ' it is expected that moderators attempt to keep thing on topic.  As you say it opten drifts off and moderators don't always bother unless there is a complaint

We have had a few in the past

Please Sir!!! Mr. admin sir is there a ruling on the use of avatars on this forum above and beyond the obvious censorship. I was told there were considerable restrictions for some after complaints have been made.

Yep, it's come to the top of your lists !
That means we've got an off-topic topic !

Has Bryn trefil become the new Monk, since he seems to have irritated 1 or 2 ( 'Welcome to Aber, home of BT' wasn't what I intended, and I don't, think he would either ) ?

And Harry's haranguing Carolyn ( and she's haranguing him ).
Is this a tchambolic metamorphosis ?

( Oh, and this post's done in the best light-hearted taste, so please make your grizzles at me in the same manner ! )

Old Bryn shoots from the hip - we've all been within his line of fire at some time. You can get annoyed/upset, take it on the chin or fire one back at him. Bryn is part of life's rich tapestry Laughing
