I think the council should have looked at a view to making the whole town more delivery friendly years ago. Let us hope it is not too little too late:

Perhaps we could have one of those signs you see on the new Penyfan-Blackwood road.
"Welcome to Abertillery.
Ignore Satellite Navigation directions".

The town of course, then smaller delivery vans, then what we see now. I once had one that size to deliver a small box of ribbons and you should see the chaos that caused.
Gladstone Street certainly had nothing to do with Satellite navigation they were taken more than 15 years ago but little has changed in that respect with a half way decent one way system nor did the first, all down to human error and this is the good days

Now we see since the day of the Aberfest the "No Entry" sign is facing the other way although the light above it does not. YEP!! the light is on but serving very little purpose and I guess a good number of motorists need to re take their test.
Watch this space for the saga of the ever rotating No Entry sign.

I have followed this forum for quite a while and seen threads go off subject This one is about business coming to the town not about street lights or surely not for publishing photographs of a motorist possibly breaking the law

Someone's in a bad mood.
|
Carolyn

Obviously not breaking the law since the sign should not be facing that way (Every village has one ) The area is access only but nobody has ever taken any notice of that anyway, the driver is only one of many passing that way today and looks a little confused almost everyone else has taken no notice at all.

Are these new forum rules If critisised change topic title and accuse posters of being in a bad mood should they not agree with certain aspects of topic

My! My! I see the Karma train is late again
Life is too short to hang around and be miserable
Time is your most precious gift, you only have a set amount of it. Time is your life. That is why the greatest gift you can give someone is your time.
My life is too short to keep your egos entertained. Why the objection to photos Wait! Is maybe that photos don't lie?
Back to the OOPS! topic the sign has often been hit out of place by large lorries but not this time, it appears to have been moved purposely since when ever it's been hit before it has faced down the street, the chapel or up the hill but never all the way round. Can't see how they would have managed that one. The post is still in place too this time

No I am not angry.. Far from it... And I was correct in my assumption as to which A*** would reply first..
As usual any opinion other than the those posted by the 'few' is derided and that person deemed to be sad, angry, or needs to get a life. A few threads ago the moderators aka Carolyn were bemoaning the fact that although people were signing up and after posting a few times were not heard of again... Think on, perhaps my previous post on this thread re 'slapping' down those whose opinions are different rings true..
As for IP tracking, forget it, they can be masked SO easily......

It matters not to me if people sign up and after a few posts are heard of no more. Naturally many people sign up for family history and contact with friends or neighbours, once contact is made or their questions answered they have no use for the forum.
I have great sympathy for the ex pats, new members and once regular users of the old message board and this one. They have used this forum to establish or maintain links with the community and are now often unable to participate with the increased input of local politics and issues.
They can't see those traffic lights in Crumlin or many of the changes that have taken place within the town, they are not able to participate in any of the local events or see what went on and therefore make any contribution to the topics under discussion. Some have a nostalgic memory of the town they once lived in and some may have visited over the last ten years or more and been appauled at the state of the town and it's demise. If they can occassioanlly see or even understand what goes on locally they would be able to participate if only to compare changes with they town they now live in as Fred has done a number of times
Both Adrian Monk and Dirty Harry raised objections to photos being illustrated on the forum and I wonder why (So easy to do annomously)? They were not really off topic or at least in some way linked to the topic under discussion (Admin I think you may have to draw up a new list of do's and dont's further to the last one). If people think that the photos do not show Abertillery in a more positive light and deter people from visiting or attracting businesses (I am certain that any representatives or visitors don't fly in via satellite navigation blindfolded or base their opinions and discussions on the views expressed entirley on this forum nor would any prospective house purchaser all would visit the town and weigh up the pro's and cons). Either way they can easily be removed can't they?
The one thing Abertillery has always had going for it in it's favour was the friendly close knit community, so territorial that if outsiders knock it when it is at the top of the list that no town wants to be on and bottom of the list that a town would like to be on both residents and ex pats defend it voiceiferously.

Carolyn I respectfully suggest you study your answer You cant continue using the word whinging when you disagree with a post This forum is a democracy of course please challenge other views using a radical argument not dismiss it as whinging Your postings appear to be written by two people some are nowledgeable erudite cultured etc others are not Your interests state psychology yet your study of the human mind appears to be if they dont agree with me I slag them off

I can use whatever word I chose to challenge any complaint made against any of my own postings, it is my opinion and not necessarily shared by others. I did not accuse anyone of being in any sort of mood nor do I consisider the term whinging as slagging anyone off.
My! My! what sensitive ego's we have on board. I frequently tell my kids and spouse to stop whinging are you suggesting I slag them off too? The post was moved as to your complaint and needed no further reference from you as to it's content in it's new location and heading, unless you had something to add to the topic under discussion. I respectfully suggest you read through the postings again.

In point of fact I think I am in the minority in finding Adrian Monk's messages inane. Most seem to find him witty. I tend to disagree with most of your posts because I find your views a bit neanderthal. Dirty Harry appears to have joined the board to moan. Most, although by no means all other posters I find myself agreeing with at some times and disagreeing with at others.
There appear to be quite a few opinions being aired on what this board should and shouldn't be, what should and shouldn't be allowed in terms of responses, and whether threads should remain on topic at all times or left to find their own path. I think some people take it a little too seriously. It's just an internet message board.

As a neutral or a person who makes their own decisions,
I to would like to see more of the photos.
If this is what goes on in Aber then it is part of our everyday life.
The photo's are in public places, and whoever takes them is doing nothing wrong.
I don't think they are taken with the intention of belittling anyone so pile em on!

Haven't been on for a while, working away, but , I see that there is a minority who seem to think that they run this forum , they cannot accept a criticism from someone who has in the past upset a few, rightly or wrongly, but, this person has a right to his/her own view !
Is there some sort of time zone you have to be in before you can criticise someone or is it just that you have to be in the right circles ?
Most of the criticism's come from people who have been on this forum from almost the beginning !
And some of them know very well how to copy and paste !
Almost a form of indirect bullying !
