Our Right to Know - Councillors' Pensions

One Freedom of Information Request that's been with the council for a week:

=====================
Pension Contributions, Elected Members.

Would you please provide a list of Elected Members who are contributing to the Members' Pension Scheme.

For each who is would you please provide details of the Council's Contribution(s) made in accordance with the provisions of the scheme.

Would you please provide this information for the Tax Years 2012/13 and 2013/14 (to date).

Thank you.

Dave Rocke

I wonder if we'll know by Weds ?

(PS I'll be on it, explanation will be a damning response to the anticipated slagging and hijacking by the 'Eddie Legge' pseudonym)

Our Right to Know- Councillor's Pensions.

What's appertaining Rocke, can I take it Ebbw Vale refuse to answer ?
Rocke

They have 20 working days to respond Bry. Today they enter the second half.

No doubt my other requests will wait as long.

(Did you know that like MPs' Register of Interests councillors also have one?).

I expect March to be a month of boundless information springing forth.

 Wink
Rocke

And off we jolly well go !  Very Happy

Well, almost. Crying or Very sad

My FOI request has been partly satisfied. Confused

I've been given the amounts of taxpayers' money that has found its way into Councillors' pension funds but (unsurprisingly) the names of the lucky Members haven't been forwarded, rules regarding Privacy etc. having been cited.

This has been queried.
Obviously I don't want to give half a story, and indeed it would be wrong because around half of our 42 councillors would be unfairly tarnished with having future-proofed their income derived from public service.

If the council fails to provide the info I intend to write to every elected Member and ask them if they would inform the general public as to whether they are members of the Councillors' Pension Fund.

I will declare now that I joined the scheme as soon as I could ie. immediately.
My reasoning was straightforward.
In the same way that any 'profit' from my remuneration was injected back into Cwmtillery Ward then so would the eventual pension be.
That stands at around a tax-free lump sum of 3,000 and a taxable 1,000/yr for life, so in around 8 years time community-minded organisations in Cwmtillery Ward can look forward to unexpected benefits of having me represent them for 4 years.
eddie jones

There were no benefits from you representing them. If you rememberr dumbo they rejected you.
eddie jones

Are you ill rocke ? No drunken bravo  posts last night
Rocke

Ah, another success !

Hit a raw nerve, so out come the insults.  Laughing  Laughing  Laughing  Laughing  Laughing

So, who's on the list, having his pension fund pumped up with Council Tax payers money?

Anyone care to make a guess ??????????????????????????

You can have first go Sue.......................  Wink

Rocke You want to publish about tax payers money in Blaenau Gwent that has found it way into Councillors pension funds
What is stopping a Torfaen council Tax payer from wanting to know how much money found its way into your pocket after being sent home for such a lengthy period on full pay, and do they have the right to be told why you are no longer employed and the cost of payment involved

Obviously not written by our friend Mr Legge,I do not know and don't want to know the full ins and outs of this matter. However(as I suspect the person who actually wrote this already knows)having some experience in these types of issues myself I would say that there was probably a gagging order put in place by Torfaen Council not Rocke when settlement was made.

NOT the scribblings of Thomas Edward Legge (but I think everyone can identify his by now).

Try it and find out  Wink

Or you could ask Party HQ to find out from Cllr Wellington, Leader of Torfaen council Laughing

(I've REALLY hit a raw nerve here citizens !)

Oops, sorry Ian but I think you've fallen for this nonsense.

These people are insinuating that there was something not quite er.  usual about me leaving the employment of Torfaen.

There's two reasons for that:

1) It's an attempt* to smear me, in much the way that innuendo was used re. putting the words 'Ian Jones' and 'strikerbreaker' in the same sentence.
*(I should say it's an Aberystwyth Al-style attempt at a smear, much as happened to Jayne Sullivan who dared to stand for the same seat as him).

2) I've really got them rattled now.
Let's see who has voted for cuts, who has voted to throw people on the dole and who will have voted to increase our Council Tax demands whilst enjoying index-linked inflation-proofed pensions that have been totally provided via public - Council Taxpayer - money.

There isn't a shred of evidence to show that there was anything untoward, suspicious nor even out of the norm regarding me and Torfaen parting company.

And of course what happens in Torfaen shouldn't be the subject of any concern here, but these things have to happen I suppose, just to try to divert attention from things which have been happening in Blaenau Gwent, such as councillors electing to join a Pension Scheme that provides them with indexed-linked inflation-proof pensions at some point after 65 and/or their survivors with Widows and Dependents' Pensions.

So, Cllr McCarthy has one chance (he's on here - 'hedleymccarthy') to explain it all to us, failing which I'll inform everyone.

You can't keep a good man down.

But I can put an inept 'ineffectual intellectual' down at a whim.

I fear Cllr McCarthy is in the mire........................
Ian

Rocke, not fallen for it at all, been around the block too long for that.
Rocke

PS, there's another 3 FOI requests yet to be satisfied.

I know  Wink

Cheers.
Rocke

Well, it's a bit quieter today isn't it?

Perhaps Smith & Jones haven't got up yet?

Or perhaps they're spending all day in Church, praying that the storm doesn't rage over them and the local Labour party/council and group.

Divine Intervention is all that's left now guys.

By the end of this week I'll have lots more info for the citizens.
And all of this coming out at a time when Council Tax increases, and further cuts in services and people are going to be debated and voted upon.
Rocke

One puts up, and 3, 4 or more er.... shut up.

Labour HQ doesn't work on weekends, obviously.

Ah, Labour HQ's working week has restarted.
Aberystwyth Al's media team have now been able to be contacted for advice.

I tell you something, I bet he won't give you locals too much involvement and absolutely no control over his re-election campaign.

Not only inept but simply cannot learn lessons.
Come on nEddie, even a donkey eventually twigs that he's never going to reach the carrot.

Once more comment insinuating that a post of mine was written under the influence of alcohol and you will be ripped open as the fool you are.

Wink
Rocke

OOPS, almost forgot to mention !

This thread is of course is about 5-figure sums that Council Tax payers have been pumping into councillors index-linked and inflation-proofed pensions annually.

Mustn't let ourselves be distracted from that.  Wink

Btw there might be an interesting letter in this week's Gazette (announcing my return from the sunset).

If so next week's edition might be even more interesting to readers.

Blaenau Gwent Councillors Pensions

Just an added post in order that webcrawlers can pick up the words 'Blaenau Gwent Councillors Pensions', and hence this thread can be hit directly via a search engine.

Now for a much bigger audience.

Where are they? Another rocke lie
Rocke

"Mr Rocke. In respect of you request re pensions for councillors please see the response below. In respect of the names of individual councillors who are participating this would be considered as exempt information, being personal information in accordance with S.40 of the Data Protection Act. XXXXX (Redacted by Rocke)

Financial Year No of Elected Members BGCBC Contribution

2012/2013 23 68,609.31

2013/2014 (to 31/12/2013) 21 55,645.12"

That's er....over 70,000 of Council Tax payers' money going into the personal pension pots of people such as Cllr McCarthy - unless of course he can:

a) categorically prove to us that he isn't one of the "Pension Piggies"; and
b) persuade his fellow councillors to say whether they are pension piggies or kosher, so we can see who the 21 (or 23) are.

PS I'm back Wink (love you and the work you're doing).
