I am researching my family tree and have discovered that my grandfather lived in Carlyle St, Abertillery back in 1912. His occupation was a coal miner. Can anyone tell me the nearest pit to this address?

Also, he married Bertha Evelyn Martin nee Peters. If there are any living relatives reading this, I would love you to get in touch. She also lived in Carlyle St.

Possibly the Vivian owned by the Powell Tillery Steam Coal Company their employer also lived in no 82 Carlyle Street at this date.

To be honest I am not sure he would necessary have worked at the nearest pit though - there were a number well within walking distance from Carlyle Street. But as Carolyn says it would probably have been the Vivian which was nearest.
