Searching Violet and Ruby Harding

Looking for information about my past . Does anyone remember Violet Harding who had a daughter named Ruby Harding they lived in Abertillery on the street which had a store called Davi's. Ruby had adopted twins in the 1960's named Anne & Peter which I believe we were adopted from Swansea . Our birth mothers name was Nora Gallivan . If anyone has any information it would be greatly  appreciated.

Take it you are Peter Harding, the one I knew died a few years back.
Seen the surname Gallivan on the electoral registers, can't recall the year but sure to crop up again.

Good morning and thank you for your reply. Our names at birth was Peter and Anne Gallivan . Ruby Harding from Abertillery adopted us from the Nazereth house in 1962. We were born in 1961. Our adopted mom Ruby brought us to the U.S. Ruby was married to Vincent Azzue . So our names today are Peter and Anne Azzue. We just found out 3 years ago that we were adopted and have be searching for the Gallivans . From what I understand Nora Gallivan our birth mother was a bar maid and that we also have 2 step brother also named Gallivan that we are trying to find.

Don't recall seeing the surname Azzue but rarely look at 60's books, will ask the peers about Nora Gallivan serving as a barmaid.
Sure to be down the reference one day this week and hopefully will have time to scan an early 60's book, I've definitely seen Gallivan somewhere though.

Good morning and thank you again . You are the first person I have come into contact in the 3 years we have been searching for our birth mother and siblings. If this helps I know that we were born in Dec 1961 and then were brought to a safe house and the turn over to a orphanage which I believe was called the Nazereth house . That is where we were adopted by Ruby Harding who live in Abertillery. I if can remember correctly we live on a street right up from Woolworths back then and there was a store called Davies on the street also. I also remember that if we walked down the hill into town there was a jewelry store called Vincent's . The man that owned it new Ruby Harding very well.  Hope this helps.

Thank you

Harding

Ancestry Births has Anne and Peter  Gallivan registered 1962 Cardiff - mother Gallivan  This may be correct if born in late 1961.

Yes you are correct we have seen this also . Our DOB is 12/22/1961.
Now it is just trying to find the right Gallivan . Not sure of the names of our step brothers but they could be in their 50-60"s.

Thank you so much

This is like a needle in a haystack and my sister and I really need to know about our past .

Thank you for all of your assistance  you are truly a wonderful person to help us on our quest to find answers.

Had a look at 1960/1961 electoral registers but couldn't see any Gallivans or a Ruby Harding in either Abertillery or Blaenau Gwent.
That said there were pages missing in the 1961 register and didn't have time to look at Cwmtillery and Six Bells, maybe next week.
Regards your Violet Harding there was one living on Alma Street in the early 60's, but you'll need to check the second christian name and the husbands name.
pete

Yes this is correct it was Alma ST and the names are on here Albert & Violet Harding were my adopted Mom's parents. Which became my grandparents.

Seen the surname Byard regularly.
The three on here may not be family descendants, but you can see where an Irish connection comes in.

Stoob,

I'm going to speak with my twin later today and see what we can come up with. You are very good at what you do and with the right information I think we just might be able to locate my birth mother and brothers.

Prefer to read a local book than watch celebrity television Pete.
As stated previously the gals know more than me, I'm not on any of the ancestry sites.
Seen Byard in both Abertillery and Llanhilleth but it's a question of which books with Gallivan. You could spend a week on the 1915 book it's that thick, but hopefully something will come up.

Yes are Grandmother Violet at some point did move from Alma ST to Queen St . But our main focus is to find out about our birth mother Nora Gallivan and our brothers and if there is any more sibilings  in the family . At this point do you think we should contact the British adoption agency or could you recommend another agency  that could help . I still need to speak with my twin and see what information she received from the Nazereth House. If we can et the needed information my sister and I would make a trip to Abertillery.

Thanks again to all

Nazareth House in Cardiff was bequeathed to The Sisters of Nazareth by The Marquis of Bute.
It has links to other Catholic organisations in both Cardiff and Swansea.
I would imagine the answers will lie in Cardiff and not Abertillery.
Will have a look at the telephone directories for South East Wales, down the reference library next week, they only go back to 1980 but they may turn up Gallivan's living in the area, then and now.
