Shore family

Thank you very much for that information, I am coming to think that maybe the Shore family from william side are no longer living in the area, as Johns wife is Doreen Meeks and they had one child Lorriane born in 1943, but must of died as there is no mention of her on your last post, and I cannot find any other info on her or any other siblings, and Trevor and his wife Rosaline Horgan moved to Newport, Tom i think is William James elder brother, but sure he died in gladstone st, in 1955, so It looks like there is no more leads to this family, which is sad as this family from William and Mary ann has 7 children and only 3 survived, Thomas, William James and their sister Maud who emergrated with her husband Alfred Rich in the late 1920's
to Australia.
thank you for your time

Re: Shore family

I don't know if this information is of any use to you.  I believe that Diana (maiden name Shore ) Hairdresser in Abertillery Arcade is a cousin of Lorraine Shore who I remember living on Tillery Street. Diana's father's name was Trevor and she also has a brother David.  Another cousin to Lorraine is Mrs Sheila Cecil (nee Meek) former teacher at Bryngwyn School.

Hi Mary Ann

Thank you very much for this information, Diane and David I do have in my tree and as for  Lorriane could not trace her at all so nice to see she is okay.

Does Diane still have the  hairdressers as maybe when I am back in Wales I could get in contact with her.

Thanks again for this.

Shore

Lorraine wouldn't have been mentioned in 1950 because she wasn't eligible to vote.

Off course.....

the old grey matter is not what it used to be....

Shore

Thomas Shore did live at 74 Gladstone Street in 1955, he was the only person on the voting list for that property.

Shore family

Thanks for that, just checked my records now I am back home and he died at this address, and the only relative he had in Abertillery was his brothers side of the family.
richard shore

Hi im Trevor Shores Grandson

"Trevor and his wife Rosaline Horgan moved to Newport,"

This isnt correct Trevor and Rosaline (Known as Joyce) both lived at 122 Oak Street all of their married life right up until they both passed away.

Diana Shore (Now Lewis) is their daughter and currently lives in Newport but still owns the hairdressers in the Arcade in Abertillery.

Hope this helps.
Richard

If a Trevor Shore wasn't living at the address in 1945 obviously the book is incorrect.

stoob

Looked at the Ray Westlake books earlier, didn't see anyone with the surname Shore on any of the Tredegar memorials.

Shore

Regards William Shore who lived at 112 Tillery Street.
In July 1902 he purchased a grave for a daughter at Blaenau Gwent Baptist Chapel, (R38/G020) and in March 1904 purchased a grave for his wife, (R34/G032), assume that they coincided with their deaths.
In the registry of deaths for Blaenau Gwent Baptist Chapel, William Shore, January 1925 aged 70.

Hi Stoobs

My sister took me to the cemetery in Abertillery so I could see the head stones, but unfortunately with the rain and the waist high grass, I would of needed wading boots, sad that it is so unkept, so will have to wait untill I can get back down to Wales and try again
stoob

Shore

Regards the chapelyard a couple of graves up there were funded by public subscription and another from the proceeds of the Newport Eisteddfod in 1873, council levelled them anyway.
According to the Purchasers of Graves register they were going to put a Garden of Remembrance up there, never happened, but not surprising with this council.
