The Guardian.

................................“The Guardian”...................................

The Guardian stands in silence, with outstretched arms he looks around.

Protecting the place where long ago, those brave men died underground.

He casts a solemn shadow now, as the evening sun begins to shine.

On the place where Forty five souls were lost,  in the darkness of the mine.

Some were young and some were old, but they were all men just the same.

They toiled with blood sweat and tears, digging coal was no easy game.

They worked and lived with unyielding pride, yet they were humble to the core.

They would give their last for their fellow man, you could not ask for more.

We will never forget as the years go by, of  the price paid on that day.

The memories etched in our peoples minds, will never go away.

A community then was torn apart, and yet they were brought together.

And today they stand united, they are stronger now than ever.

The guardian’s voice will never be heard, as he stands in silent homage.

He would say we must be happy now, in the sure and certain knowledge.

Those souls who were lost on that fateful day,  now stand proud together.

They are resting now in a wondrous place, Their pain is gone forever.

It's not exactly "Cluttered Corner", only one poem, by the person who suggested it. Rolling Eyes

Why not make a cultural contribution to the page instead of your usual negative comments on all and sundrie.
I suggested this page because some members like poetry and other things cultural if you don't like it don't waste space on a page that was not designed for your petty remarks.
If you must make comments about this page rather than contributions why no start a thread on General Discussion such as "Is Culture Corner a waste of time"
As they say in show business "Break a leg" I await your contribution on the appropriate page

It was not a criticism of the page itself, I hoped my comments would spur other poets into contributing to such an interesting idea. This site could do with all the input it can get at the moment. "Negative comments"," petty remarks", which I read as if YOU do not agree they are wrong. Maybe I should do a "Rocke", if I also stopped posting you could more or less have the site to yourself. Don't waste too much of your time concocting a reply, I shall not waste MY time reading it.
