The Little family of Queen's street,Abertillery. Circa:1935.

I came across this forum by accident. It is good to see such forums in action,so to speak. Old Merthyr Tydfil is another decent 'forum' to join: some of you may have moved from there!
I live in Swindon, Wilts, but was born and brought up in Aberfan, near Merthyr Tydfil ,hence my bias towards their forum! I attended Pantglas Sec. Modern but left in 1965 to join the Royal Navy, while my parents moved to Swindon seeking work. A year later the Aberfan disaster occurred. At times I used to play upon that tip, but I digress!
My mother lived at number 58, (I think) Queen street, Abertillery. Her father was Thomas Little, his wife, Laura, who after his death moved to Swindon. Their neighbours were called the Nashes. As a very young boy I recall my relations chuckling a lot because the Nashes usually ordered something, like a settee, for example, and then changed their minds!-Losing money in the process. To enter the house(or was it the back yard entrance?) one descended some steps. My mother was called Elsie Matilda, her sister, Edith, known as Peggy! Elsie was the eldest one. She married Edward Mervyn Adams(deceased)- my father who came from Blaina- just down the road. When courting they used to meet at the church where my mother was a Sunday-School teacher, I believe. Thomas Little was a miner all his life and I can still recall him now, some 50 years on, washing in the tin bath in front of the fire! How times move on! He had a hard life. He used to fervently support his local football team, which I assume, was the Abertillery team! his poor wife, however, my grandmother, used to wash the teams soccer kit!! Looking back that must have been really hard work-no washing machines, etc!! Every week she washed their kit; perhaps she was paid?
Does anyone recall the family, please? My mother was born in May,1918.Died:1986.(Road accident). Aged, 68 years.
Grateful for any help. -Jeff Adams.
