Urban District Isolation Hospital 1903-?

Hello.
I'm hoping someone out there will know something about this hospital which was located at or near Llanhilleth.  It is possilble that my great-grandmother stayed there during an illness, circa 1908, but I have been unable to find anything out about the hospital.  I would love to find the records from this hospital eventually.   Any help is greatly appreciated.

The only hospital of that type I can think of is what we used to call the "Fever Hospital" situated in Nantyglo, a few miles up the valley from Llanhilleth. If you do a "google" you will find more information. I lived in Llanhilleth as a child and can't recall anywhere nearer which would fit the bill. You could maybe try posting a message on the Llanhilleth website www.valleysgirl.co.uk
Good luck
Jane.

A fever hospital was at the top of Adam Street on the mountain, it was pulled down before 1947. the site is still there as a flat piece of land

Hi Annie, Many thanks for answering this post.

I answered complete with a photo (one of a few) of the fever hospital which I have but now belongs to the cybertyleri group.  The post was  not deleted by myself, moderator or admin and replaced by the post above. I do not ignore posts that I am able to answer.

My late moter-in-law was a nurse at a hospital in the Abertillery area when she lived there during the 1930/40's.  Her name was Edith 'May' Jones nee Thomas.  I dont know the name of the hospital but I remember her saying that she went up the mountain to work.

She eventually married one of the patients she nursed in the hospital after her divorce from her first husband Ernest Jones of Abertillery.  The patient's name was Mick Walker.  they left the area after getting married.

May's father was a blacksmith in Abertillery or Crickhowell.
