Lights go on at The Met

Quote:
A NOSTALGIC production following the fortunes of a family during World War II will be performed at The Met next month.

Abertillery Amateur Dramatic and Musical Society are staging a musical called When The Lights Go On Again and will be supporting charities for troops and war veterans along the way.

The society’s Diane Jones said they expect the show to be great fun and involve plenty of audience participation.

She said: “This nostalgic production has prompted us to invite several local veterans to the show as a tribute to the vital part they played in WWII.

“The Royal British Legion have kindly offered the services of their standard bearer, and during the week a collection will be made for Help For Heroes.

“The musical follows the fortunes of the Parker family from the outbreak of the war to VE Day.

“There is an abundance of humour and certainly no rationing when it comes to the classic war time songs including White Cliffs of Dover and We’ll Meet Again.

“We will also have authentic newsreel footage helping to recreate key moments in the conflict.

“It will be an evening of pure nostalgia.”

The production will be at The Met in Abertillery from May 17 to 21. Curtain goes up at 7pm from Tuesday to Friday, and 6pm on Saturday.

Tickets are £9 or £8 for senior citizens and children up to the age of 12. Call 01495 322510.
