WIND

How many people in Abertillery knew that Mr Steve Smith head of planning control Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council was at the Local Community Council meeting last night to discuss wind turbines.

That's crazy talk cowpat!  Wink

I have never got the impression that community councillors even see themselves as representing anyone, other than maybe their political party where they have one. I can't ever remember a community councillor asking for opinion on any issue and very seldom heard any of them letting the electorate know what is going on at their meetings.

Martyn Why did you support David Rocke in his failed attempt to become a community councilor

I supported David Rocke in his attempt to become a County Borough councillor. I think the Community Council is a complete waste of money and I'd like to see it abolished.

Consequently, so far as I remember, I didn't support David Rocke in his failed attempt to become a Community Councillor. The only reason I would have is because he also thought it a waste of money and it might have helped abolish it if there was  someone on the inside pushing for the same thing.

Good shout Martyn but I can see Admin removing this thread to the Soap Box page.

Rocke could not have had community council abolished even from inside
The only way it can be done is by ex amount of that communities names on a petition, not a lot, I have forgoten how many

That's right Eddie, it requires a referendum. Howver, this is straying from your claim that I supported David Rocke. And, of course, it is straying even further from the original point which was about the community council and wind turbines. So if you want an argument about abolishing community councils, about David Rocke or about cheese, then you can have one on your own.

Has anybody else noticed the applications for wind turbines being submitted by all the local hill farmers from Six Bells to Cwmtillery.

On wonders where the funding for these turbines is coming from and who is really behind these applications.

I wonder how long it will be, if these applications are successful, before we see another attempt to cover the Coity and Mynydd James in wind turbines.

Not that Im alleging anything mind, but it makes you think.

Where did you see this Kelvin?
kdwent

There have been planning notices in the post office in Six Bells, on lamposts by Cwmtillery lake and also on lamposts on the road going past the church in Cwmtillery.

As i said might be a coincidence but i have my doubts.
