Firstly Martin you are getting yourself confused between the refinery STRIKE and the fuel PROTESTS.  One was within the last week and the other was a few years ago.

Read my posts properly!!!!!

Secondly, I DID NOT purchase fuel in Abertillery I filled up in BRISTOL, so therefore did not contribute the the alleged shortage at Tesco.

You may do well to read entire threads before you post nonsense.

You are quite right. I hadn't noticed you had shifted your argument away from the current dispute to the fuel protests of old. So far as the current dispute is concerned the media said there would be plenty of fuel to go around. And except for temporary shortages because of panic-buyers like you, they were right. You can quote times they have been wrong if you like but it would be better if you'd stick to the issue mrh raised. Thanks  Smile

And you might be wise to adopt your own advice - where did I suggest that you had refuelled in Abertillery? What difference does it make where you did it? You just contributed to a temporary shortage in a different part of the UK.

Sorry if your comments weren't directed at me but I couldn't see any contributions from a 'Martin' so figured they probably were. Better double-check the post next time eh?

Bye for now.

Well Martin your apology is accepted, next time read before you post.

At no point did I admit to panic buying, I filled up as my tank was empty, that's what some people do when they are nearly out of fuel, FILL UP, I assume that you put £5 a time in your motor, probably not Giro day eh?

There was no shortage in Bristol, so you comments are irrelevant.

Have a nice day Mart.

This is now getting extremely silly, isn't there enough rubbish being peddled by tomorrows prospective candidates without this board reducing to a mud slinging forum. No doubt there were those that filled up out of panic, afterall what do you do if you don't want a panic, obvious isn't it go on national tv and say don't panic. Also there were those who filled up out of neccessity, and those who could get away with a few quids worth.Which ever category you fall in to,then what's done is done.Personally as with anything else if I thought it would cause hardship to others and could do without I would. If it was something I really needed I would expect but probably not get the same treatment back, that's how society unfortunately is these days   Crying or Very sad

That is if they can find your contribution record which accidently got lost on their database for two years Evil or Very Mad.  Decision makers are a breed of their own, not very good at spelling, no medical spell checker although a google search would help them considerably if they knew how to use it, with result base their descisions on diseases you don't have. Yes Corolyn, ALL civil servants should be tarred with the same brush as should ALL forum moderators, sigh.

What is funny is that even though this forum has a built in spell checker you still managed to misspell decisions lol, nice one...........

Hello Pot meet Kettle.......................

I assume that you have had a negative experience with the civil service in relation to some disease or other as your post makes little sense to any casual follower of this thread.

Hey, I have an idea, why don't we have ALL civil servants lined up against a wall and shot because someone misspelled a word, good one, I will ask around the office to see how they feel about it.

The majority of civil servants (at the realistic end) do a very good job under ever increasingly difficult circumstances, although work loads are increasing job cuts mean that each individual has to work much harder to deliver a meaningful service to the public and believe me it is not easy.

Hey ho, why don't you just condemn the WHOLE system because of a misspelling, that is just sad, very sad.

I don't really want to defend the loss of personal data which in my opinion is unforgivable BUT as hinted at above, you get what you pay for.

Looking at your profile I can only assume you are joking about your pre retirement career because you are putting yourself across as some kind of super intelligent high flier who is so much further up the evolutionary ladder than a lowly servant of the crown.

I suppose you have the option to arbitrarily delete this post because I have an opinion which does not fit in around here.  Well knock yourself out, if you do at least I will know you have read it.

Love & Kisses

Being sarcastic is not becomeing of a civil servant please try and be a bit more civil. Is it any wonder that people have a poor opinion of civil servants when they try to prve that they are superior to us poor mortals.

Oh dear. Now Carolyn gets the personal insults. You really aren't making yourself seem any more adult you know. Like all message board trolls, you seem to have a lot of anger inside you. As somone once said, sigh...

Ian. I think panic buying is stupid and counter productive. You disagree. That's fine. I find it a bit ironic that someone who works in the private sector and is not a TU member (me) is arguing this point with a fervent union member (you). That may indeed be how society is these days but you don't necessarily have to go along with it.

Martyn,I know it's early and my eyes may not be focussed but where did I say that? All I think I've ever said was that it was a fact of life not that I agreed with it Exclamation As for going along with it I like yourself would have little opportunity to do anything about it,but if you wish to get your placard out the next time I'll join you on the forecourt lol(hang on though is that secondary picketing?) On the other points re Civil Servants I have to agree in part with Mr Power,if you tar all of them with the same brush are you not doing exactly the same as tarring all those who filled their tanks(for whatever reason)with that brush. As I've said before there are good and bad examples in all walks of life. You know that I have personal experience in these areas. There are a great deal of people working under difficult circumstances to provide a good service,if want to find out the reasons it isn't working then you need to look above their level.Believe or not Fred those at the sharp end are mere mortals.Enough said, soap box been in use too much lately,Martyn I'll talk to you about it over a pint, hang on though don't want to spoil the pint.

Dave Power - I am asking you politely to temper your messages on the board - they are now personally insulting towards other users. If you don't refrain, you will be banned from posting - end of story.

Well mrh35, seems like you stirred up a bit of an hornets nest with this post and its all gone off the point a bit like my post about the foundry bridge. But never mind perhaps someone can bring a bit of humour into it.

Mr Power - you make an awful lot of assumptions.  It may surprise you to learn that there are people in this town who have never made a 'dole claim' in their lives.  Cool
