Ian, are you really saying that if we can't have the rail-link all the way up to Aber then the Cardiff to EV (parkway) link should not exist either?

It would be rediculous to do away with something in place but as i said this scheme was meant to be for abertillery as well as other area's.
We have been/are being overlooked. _________________ "Assert your right to make a few mistakes. If people can't accept your imperfections, that's their fault".

To be fair, at the moment the people of Ebbw Vale are no better off than us when it comes to the railway. The track ends a few miles from their town centre as it does for us (if you live in Abertillery itself). I accept that it seems more likely that EV will get the track extended into the town but I doubt that will happen for some time and at present, as I said, we are all in the same boat. _________________ The compliments pass when the quality meet.

Then give me an example of someone or a group of people who aren't being catered for. No names just an example of,say, a talented sportsperson or musician that are being held back by a lack of facilities.
Or where people aren't able to try out a particular sport, hobby or subject. _________________ Rocke |

The tories tore the soul out of this place 20 years ago and we have not even come close to recovering, and little projects like this are not the way to do it. They just shut up the locals who need to see change to trust a clueless council.
I haven't heard of the 'Tear the Heart out of Abertillery' Act 1989.
Whether you like it or not we've had a Labour-dominated council having the greatest effect on our lives for 35 of the past 36-odd years. _________________ Rocke |

what's important is the VAST silent majority being overlooked
Which is the whole point of this forum and certainly my usage of it - to give the silent a way of voicing themselves.
After all, how are they to be heard otherwise ? _________________ Rocke |

But i whole-heartedly agree with anthony on his point of politicians answers to questions this pot for this this pot for that.
If that is the unbending fact that money is earmarked for one particular cause in individual pot's.
THEN WHAT HAPPENED TO THE MONEY EARMARKED FOR THE ABERTILLERY RAIL LINK, IF THEY DID'NT HAVE ENOUGH TO COMPLETE THE WHO SCHEME IT SHOULD'NT HAVE BEEN STARTED.
AND BEFORE ANYONE COMES BACK WITH PHASE ONE AND PHASE TWO ETC. THE SCHEME IS THE WHOLE PACKAGE NOT WHERE CERTAIN PEOPLE SEE FIT TO PUT STATIONS AND WHICH TOWNS RECEIVE THE RAIL LINK. WHAT ELSE IS ABERTILLERY GOING TO LOSE OUT ON, TO EBBW VALE.
ABERTILLERY CLLS SHOULD BE REMINDED JUST BECAUSE OUR COUNCIL OFFICE HAS BEEN MOVED TO EBBW VALE THEY ARE STILL WORKING FOR THE PEOPLE OF ABERTILLERY, (THEORETICALLY). |
They/we never had the money earmarked.
They couldn't even get the link into EV where it should have been.
What should be asked is what happened to the money earmarked for the missing link - Victoria - EV ?
That cock-up's cost us - or should I say given EV - another station.
Either someone messed up the estimates or the finances.
What no-one should forget however, is that this council at all times has said the link was going from Cardiff to EV. At what point did it know that it wouldn't get as far as what I - and most people I suspect - would regard as EV proper ?
The greater one of course is why no-one in political control apparently knew.
Come to think of it there's a pattern here - Nantyglo Comp should have been identified as needing some sort of action - perhaps even a bit of the investment piled into schools in other parts of the Borough.
I can't understand why 2 months into this administration and it was discovered about the Foundry Bridge, Nantyglo Comp and about 6 months ( from my research, not the council's ) the real truth ( not anyone else's drivel ) about the Aberbeeg-Abertillery rail link.
That's a good month less than a certain ex-Leader had.
And I say this not so much with political comments or personal aims in mind but from concerns that there might be an awful lot more out there somewhere that needs to be looked into. _________________ Rocke |
