What did you do during the Miners' Strike Sue?

Not much is the answer if you can't recall.  Embarassed

I'd say the opposite, someone with a sense of perspective.

That strike was simply about politics and anti-Thatcherism, and it was concocted by a completely useless and inept socialist class warrior.

And of course the absolute proof is that you - and a few hundred vociferous lefties like you - got, and continue to get, involved in something which, had it been viewed as solely an industrial relations matter, would never have been your affair.

Political, through and through, and in my view those who saw through it and had the courage of their convictions are a damn sight better human beings than lefties and class warriors like you.

The brotherhood and loyalty of one particular set of workers was harnessed for the sole intention of waging an anti-Government campaign.

Scargill and Joe Gormley, two totally different leaders of the NUM.
We all know which one was successful in saving jobs and helping make conditions better for miners and their families. He fought the Tories as well.

Difference is that he believed in what he was fighting for - miners and their pay and conditions.

Difference is he made sure that supplies of coal would run out before individuals' ability to financially survive did.

Difference is, he and they won.

Capitalist Martyn, a capitalist don't forget.
Capitalising on booms in the property market.

I wonder if any Estate Agents in town ever made commission on the sale of a property that a mining family could no longer afford as the result of being on strike for too long?

Mr Legge,
It is quite evident that you have certain information regarding Ian Jones and the miner’s strike. (I don’t know Mr Jones but can only surmise that you believe he broke the strike) What you are trying to active is nothing more than bulling, something you are more than willing to accuse anyone of who disagrees with you.
Now I’m not saying that some of the posts directed at you are fair and the tone of some must be upsetting, but that gives you no right to go delving 30 years into the past to try to settle a score.
It is also clear that you was not a striking miner and cannot appreciate the amount of stress and strain that it had on the miners and their families with a lot losing not only their homes but leading to a break up of their marriages.
It was OK to put the odd tin of beans and a packet of biscuits in a box outside Tesco or buy the occasional pint for a miner but what was really needed was of someone to pay their mortgage and electricity bill for them each month.

But like the great Elvis Presley said…….

‘Before you abuse, criticize, and accuse walk a mile in my shoes’

I never booked any room, and I think you need to acknowledge that, becasue otherwise it could be libellous.
I certainly wouldn't have been renting one from any Estate Agent who made money out of selling the property of a hard-up mining family, or via the hated, damnable Tory policy of the Right to Buy, which of course deprived more working class families of the chance of affordable social housing.

As a result of Eddie legge's incessant probing of my time throughout  the miners strike which was a very harrowing experience for myself and my family.
I now have people insinuating I worked through the strike or went back to work through the strike by way of using a very derogatory Word.
And all the time he never had the "guts" to say the word himself.
Are you proud of yourself.

It is libellous.

Well I tell you what, how about we (I, 'cos I'm that good) set up a situation whereby we litigate against each other ?

Sue Roberts is the fiancee/partner of Hedley McCarthy, Leader of Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council.

During the time Mr (Cllr) McCarthy was Leader how many contracts did the Council enter into with the firm of Estate Agents that Sue Roberts was deeply involved with ????????????????

C'mon - publish (or not) and be damned.
